I don't think that the program is a total flop, I think that is has good intention from both the Democrats and Republicans.
In the end, all fighting aside, I really do honestly think that both parties want to do what is best for children. I really do.
I think at some point, there is a common ground and the NCLB was a good step. It's not the best program in the world and it hasn't been implemented in the most efficient way but it's a far cry from the old ESEA act from way back in the day, lol.

I do agree that it does need to be better funded and maybe change the administration. But it was a good notion and I'm proud that it happened. Maybe with a little luck, Clinton will end up having a little bit of power in the healthcare and education systems this go round.   (I say that proudly as a Republican). lol.

Kids are failing in school because they're glued to their PS3's and gameboys and their parents let them.
It's easier when your kid is quiet. It's the parents fault, not the childs and not the government. There is no self accountability.
Then the kid grows up to be a "man" and go figure...he can't get a job because he didn't go to school. It's okay...we'll cut him a check. Who needs proper syntax or spelling skills anyways? It's not like those are necessities.
I'm sorry but that's not the Republican's fault.
And despite the fact that I have benefited greatly from "affirmative action", I don't agree with it.
And also, we have to give the "bug guys" a tax cut, if we don't they're going to outsource. No skin off their backs.
It's going to be our jobs that get cut. They're aren't going to suffer a bit. Infact, they may be better off due to the lack of uneducated indolent American's who refuse to work a day in their life. So, let us hope that they take the tax break and stay because to be honest, we need their tax dollars to pay for many of these programs that are beneficial to us as well as the rest of the world.
I have to agree with you on this point, Alexa. Having been a teacher, I watched the work ethics of students deteriorate every year. Parents want to blame the schools and the teachers in stead of being parents. I've heard kids call teachers things to their faces nowdays that we wouldn't have even considered when we were growing up.

Not sure I agree with all of the rest. Tax breaks to corporations don't keep those corporations from outsourcing. They do what puts the most money on the balance sheet. Bill clinton passed the biggest blow to American workers in history; NAFTA. When he was selling it to us, he touted the benefits to US consumers in lower prices from lower labor costs. Those lower costs never materialized for me. My electrical material went up in price and G.E., Siemens, Square D and others that moved to Monterrey made more profits.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I understand your economic argument against the tax...it's one of my parents constant political arguments, lol.
I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree.   The lower costs just benefited certain people...I guess I got lucky with a few NAFTA rulings. The lumber ruling made home building much more profitable for me. But I guess that one organization doesn't always help people equally. I wish that it could though.

                      On a more unified note...
Taxes are KILLING me right now. I got nailed with a luxury tax the other day that I didn't even know existed!!!  8O

I hate to admit it, but I too am shocked over a statement that I actually agree with made by the geekster, when he revealed his thoughts about those who speak from facts and figures and those who speak from their passions and or feelings.

Although, I am fairly sure that there will come a day when the NWO will be known to all, some will constantly profess it does not exists or if it does, it really isn't as bad as it could be.

Ron Paul was my choice for president as some of you know already, and since the media and the unforeseen dark forces that control them, have successfully buried any real hopes of reclaiming america thru Ron Pauls leadership, we'll just have to wait and see which Neo Con Puppet will take us further down the road to economic disaster. I am with Ron Paul, we need to quit buidling an empire and concentrate on rebuilding America.

I believe Ron Paul when he told those who would listen, that this nations economy would eventually collapse if we did not make some major changes in our foreign policies and bring home all of our troops on foreign soil as quickly as possible.

I do sincerely hope that at the end of the next presidents term in office, there will still be a free internet where we can continue our discussions of facts and figures and be able to share our feelings with one another. I really do hope that the the war in IRAQ is over and that we are not fighting with IRAN, IRAQ, or some other world power that needs to have their oil protected and guarded by us.

Overall, a very interesting thread to say the least.....
