I was going to put together and acrylic top for this and can definitely cut room for 1 maybe 2 pc fans and get the led ones for a night effect.

Re: Starting a shrimp nano
Make a diy cooling fan from a PC fan. On my CRS tank it drops the temp a few degrees. With it come increased evapoation& its problems.

Starting a shrimp nano
I'm at 78 in the mornings to 83 at night depending on how long the light and my computer have been on.

My nano runs 80-82 with no heater. The room is around 78. The light and hob warm it up.

So I have had my digital thermometer on the tank all day and it has had a constant temp of 80+ with no heater on.

Re: Starting a shrimp nano
Sponge filter is always a good idea with shrimps because it gives them something else to feast upon.

Starting a shrimp nano
I used tap water to start and want to see how the ph does after a week or so. If the ph stays over 7.2 or so I will change to distilled. I'm going with the Sakura reds that Tim has for sale and some OEBTs.Originally posted by mnemenoi View PostAquasoil and similar types of substrate can be quite dirty when first added, but they will settle over time. As for their difficulty, they are far easier if they are minimally fed and any shrimp need good water quality and stable conditions.
Are you using tap water? Are you thinking about soft (I'm assuming) or hard water shrimp? Neo's should do well and possibly some tigers or bee variant.
