Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment

I completely respect your viewpoint in this matter, Raul. We should have responded to 9/11 and we did. The problem lies with the token response we mounted in Afghanistan. We did a piss-poor job and never did get the guy who was responsible for the whole thing. We did get a couple lieutenants, but not the general.

Then, in stead of finishing the job there, Bush goes off on the Iraq tangent. Hussein was a SOB, no denying that and the UN did right by sanctioning him, IMO. However, he never was involved with Al Qaeda or 9/11. Al Qaeda pretty much thought he was a nut job. The reasons for the Iraq war were manufactured and changed several times. Ever hear of the Manning Report? Manning was a chief adviser of Tony Blair's and the report details a pre-war meeting between Blair, Bush and Condie Rice. Among the items discussed were ways to provoke Saddam Hussein into attacking us. This was after Bush got the report that from the CIA that said Hussein was NOT an immenent threat to the US unless he was attacked.

Do we cheapen things by leaving? I don't think so. I think that every wasted American life over there is a complete tragedy and to continue in this folly is the worst kind of persistence in a failed foreign policy.

There may be Al Qaeda in Iraq now...probably are. But I think most of whom Bush is calling terrorists over there now are insurgents; people whose country has been invaded by foreigners and don't want us there. If the shoe was on the other foot and someone had occupied this country "for our own good" I'd be doing the same thing. I guess Bush would call me a terrorist too. I'd call me a patriot.

As for whining, call it that if you will, but I've earned the right to complain about criminal acts by our government. I spent 6 years in the Navy, pay my taxxes and exercise my right to vote. I've written letters, E-mails and made phone calls to local representatives. Think it did any good? For six years I put my body between my country and her enemies, and was honorably discharged in 1984. Want to call my patriotism into question? Go ahead, but do so wearing a uniform, having sworn the oath that I did.

Was 9/11 staged? I don't have the answer to that and would like to believe that the President and his administration aren't that evil. However, I do believe that the reasons we went into Iraq were fabricated and over 4,000 US boys and girls were sacrificed on the alter of greed. I was having a conversation with a buddy a few weeks ago about this. He said he couldn't believe that Americans would sacrifice Americans for money. I told him that's what makes it easy for the people who did it. How many people died in the Genocides of Mogadishu, Sudan and Serbia? Those were humans who perpetrated those acts. Just because our government is made up of Americans we believe them incapable of atrocities. Also, you might ask yourself why, for the first time in American history, we had to take all these contractors to war with us, in the largest no-bid T&M contract in history. I'm sure it's just coincidence that the companies over in Iraq: Halliburton, Bechtel, KBR and others have direct ties to members of this administration and their families.

Bush has all but bankrupted our government with his idocy. When the bill comes due, guess who gets to pay it? Rich guys like the Bush and Cheney families? Nope. You and me...and our descendants.

I'm thinking politics need to be banned on HFB.  Just a thought.

Hence my comment of how explosive an issue it can be between a group of different people.. lol   I also agree...makes it much nicer to discuss the things we all have in common and keep it on that common ground.

My sincere apologies if I offended anyone. I'm very passionate about a few subjects and sometimes go a little overboard. If it will make for a more harmonious board then I'm for tabling controversial subjects like politics, religion, etc. I've seen the same thing happen at other sites. At AB we had an anything-goes section in the forums called the Shark Tank. It was closed recently due to bad feelings and personal attacks among the members.

I dont think it should be banned we all discuss our opinions and live on I do not think anyone is taking it to offense and hates someone on here. We all go to the meetings and have a great time. As long as we all understand that these are our opinions and that as right or wrong as someone feels they are their is no need to attack each other personally or physically. I think we have done that successfully. Maybe except Nick and David fighting at the GHAC meetings we might need to look into that. J/K
