Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
Argh don't get me started....
I gave up on American news sources when they ran coverage on a decades old murder instead of telling us that the Supreme Court found against the white house in the wire tapping cases....I go to the BBC for my American news.
Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
I laugh every time I hear the phrase, "liberal media". The mainstream media is nowhere near liberal. Broadcast and cable news networks are owned by huge corporations, none of which have "liberal" viewpoints. The Boardrooms of these multimedia giants are filled with staunch Republicans, for the most part, who call themselves "conservative". It's no wonder to me that stories like the one CF linked don't get any attention. I usually pay little attention to what makes the 6 o'clock news. I'm much more interested in what doesn't make the headlines at ABC. Anyone hear on the news about the police station in the State of Texas that was attacked by a Mexican drug militia last year, and one of the prisoners liberated by the armed group? No one did. It was suppressed.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? Heard it on Fox news yesterday. I think it is the biggest waste of time when there is other things the government could be doing. And I wont go on a rant by the media in large part is liberal look at the people who run virtually every newspaper all documented liberals. NBC & CNN cheifs are liberals among a few.
Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
I have to say I agree with Darbex...now...this is will be the last comment I will make in this thread, knowing how explosive an issue like politics is among a diverse group of individuals. I want to make sure that I am completely civil and the best way to do that is just to stay clear.. Remember my post in another forum about how I wasn't born to be a diplomat? ....nuff said.......lol
CLEVELAND -- In a statement that didn't mince words, former state representative Jim Trakas, who is challenging Congressman Dennis Kucinich for the 10th District seat in November, said Kucinich has "misplaced his priorities" and that Kucinich should be concentrating on solutions to the energy problems.
"On the day his constituents first started paying $4 for a gallon of gasoline, Congressman Kucinich uses his time and efforts for more political games and not trying to solve the real problems in Washington," Trakas said. The Democratic congressman introduced a resolution to impeach President George Bush, something that even Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said was "off the table" and is not something Congress will even consider.
"Once again, Kucinich shows how out of touch he is with Cleveland and the 10th District," Trakas said. "A meaningless piece of legislation that is going nowhere seems to be the priority of our congressman while the constituents in the 10th District suffer.'
Trakas, a Republican, said Kucinich, who has twice run for President, does not have Northeast Ohio on his mind but higher office.
In 1991, Trakas won the first of two terms on the Independence City Council.
In 1998, Trakas was elected to the 15th, and later renamed the 17th District of the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served four terms; two of which as House Majority Whip.
Kucinich was elected Mayor of Cleveland in 1977.
In addition, Kucinich has served on the Cleveland City Council (1970-75, 1981-82); served as the Clerk of Courts for the Cleveland Municipal Court (1976-77); been an Ohio State Senator (1994-96); and in November 2004, was elected to his fifth term as a Member of the United States House of Representatives (1997-present).

OK, Kucinich isn't thought of in high regard by his fellow congressmen from what I understand. I also understand that while Mayor of a small town, he caused it to go bankrupt...he wasn't Mayor too much longer after that. 8O And people voted for this guy to be their Congressman...Sheesshh!
Always promote people to positions where they can do the least amount of damage : Management

Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
I wouldn't mind seeing Mr. Bush removed from office, because personally I think he's done a lousy job as president. I'm hoping that some day he does have to answer for some of those charges that Kucinich has leveled against him.
But I also agree that it is a waste of time in the current political environment, trying to remove Bush from office.
I also would like to point out that no matter what anyone's personal opinion on politics, civic matters, or recent events, it's your right as an American to voice that opinion freely.
It is a good thing, to openly discuss matters of such importance with your peers, for you may have some insight to share with others and vise versa, I have been known to change my position on ocassions.
Last but not least, this is a open forum web site , for the most part, my thoughts are shared in a "matter of fact" or casual fashion, and they are not intended to influence or upset others, please forgive me if they do sometimes rub ya'll the wrong way. Most of you are all adults and have the ability to discard the rubbish, and know it when you hear it.
A Senator bringing impeachment procedings against Mr. Bush, should be main stream news in my opinion.

Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
of course it should be mainstream.....
let's put it in line with all the other things that they have managed to keep out of the mainstream...
uh let's see......the truth about 911....
the truth behind who was where when kennedy was shot......
the truth behind the clinton's connections....
shall i go on?.....
so even if it is newsworthy and should be mainstream ......you really think they were going to let us know it ????

It's not only a right, it's an obligation. We should question the government when they behave in their own best interests in stead of ours, no matter how strong the opposition to those questions and the concomitant difficulty of asking them. The easy path is to goose-step to the tune the career politicians play. I think one of the biggest mistakes we as Americans tend to make is to believe the government is America. It's not...we are.

Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
Look here I go...making another comment...lol I am definately not a kool-aid drinker by any means... I personally take issue with plenty of what the presidient has done...for instance the illegal immigration issue... huge screw ups in his decision making and thought process in my opinion. However, I don't think he has done the worst job of any president either...some things he did, I completely agree with... for example, the partial-birth abortion ban. I did not like the president before him for many reasons and that was one of them...he didn't have the backbone to stand up and sign that ban himself. That's another story. In other news that has made the mainstream... I am completely pleased that the republicans struck down that bogus bill that would have imposed taxes on the oil companies revenues.... My reasons for that are the fact that as with any business, they would have just raised the price even higher to pass the cost onto the consumer.. In my opinion, they need to open up the areas we have available, and there are many, and drill for our own oil and quit relying on other countries who hate us to gouge us for one of our most used resources.... Like how I changed the subject?? Actually, it wasn't my intention to change it...sooo...if thats not cool, then ignore me and keep talking like I never said anything.. ha ha.
Re: Mainstream media yawns as Kucinich offers impeachment
I don't agree with most of what our politicians in Washington do, Dem and Rep. Personally, I'm a registered Independant. I don't believe in letting any party make my mind up for me. I have the free will to screw up my own life without lettin' some yutz who made a career out of feeding from the public trough screw it up for me...but that's the system we have, so I excercise my vote and thereby earn the right to criticize the idiots running things. I also think Bush has a lot to answer for, along with the other members of his administration. By definition someone in the White House committed treason by authorizing the release of Valerie Plain's identity. And while we're talking about wasting time and money, how much did Ken Starr's investigation cost? Now, I'm not a Clinton supporter and never understood the rationale that he had to be good for Bush to be bad. Clinton signed the biggest blow to American labor in history, IMO...NAFTA. Plus he was a sneak and a cheater. I have no respect for him. Our history is rife with politicians who did what they wanted. Does anyone really believe that Reagan knew nothing about Iran/Contra and that a colonel had the stroke to pull that off without the nod from the White House? Old Ollie North sure took the fall for it...just like Scooter Libby. Anyway, enough rant for tonight. I really like discussions like this, but in the final analysis, none of us are gonna solve the world's problems here on the forum...especially without a beer in our hand.
