the bruising is caused from the holding onto the leg as they hammer in the parts to the bone....that's why there is so many in so many places on my leg....the titanium piece requires them to hammer it into the ends of the bone on both ends of the bone. so when all the bruising subsides i will set off any and all alarms and metal detectors.... 8O

LOL! I wonder if I would set off the detectors... Man, that's some nice bruising!! I had REALLY bad bruises on my whole leg from breaking it in the first place and then having to go through the surgery...it was pretty purple. I got my cast taken off today and you can still see bruising... I can't walk yet either...He put me in a big clunky boot and wants me to try putting weight on it a little at a time and he told me to move it around as much as I can to get my tendons stretched out again. I'll have to take pics of my incisions tonight and post them up! They still have some pretty nasty scabs on them, but the doctor and the nurses said everything looks pretty good...I told them that if this looks good, I would hate to see what bad looks like!! I think the one thing that hurt the worst out of all of this was when he took out my staples before he casted me...I can't even describe the pain. I had a few spots where the skin had started trying to grow over the staples and he had to dig in there to get them out...ugh... So, Loretta, are those stitches dissolve-able, or will they have to be taken out? I got stitches the first time I broke my foot, but the staples were, by-far, the most painful!! You will see in the pics I take tonight how they tore slits into my skin before they came out...

Well for those of you who have pins in your body get a doctor to give you a body sketch to show where the pins are at.. this will allow you (at least in the old days) to avoid having a major problem at the airport.

thanks for the advice zu....

i have to have the stitches taken out loopy.....i'm not looking forward to it....being that i have done that to my patients a million times i know it's very painful.....but i was very thankful i didn't have staples for i know those suck too....i'm in physical therapy though and it's very painful to boot.....loopy they had me walking the very next morning after surgery...and i have a machine that i have to lay my leg into that bends my leg up and down....it a pain in itself...but i have to do what i have to do ..there is a light at the end of my pain tunnel and i'm headed toward that right now....good luck in your recovery too ....i can certainly relate to the pain of all we are going thru.....
