i vote all metal because if and when i run out and i decide i have to smash/bludgeon my way to safety, itll hurt alot more... and not alot of polymers fit my kinda big hands(glock)... i also like the weight and its effect on recoil for follow ups

Metal. Polymer is only good for three thousand or so rounds. S&W model 908 is a nice looking metal frame that's priced right.

Bersa also makes a very nice all metal 9mm that's priced right.

For an endurance test, two years ago I shot together with a ton of others, one Glock 19, 9mm in the matter of two day 5000 rounds of ammo. Started out clean, never cleaned during the test and then broken down. It held up without any problems and could prolly have taken another about 5000 rounds down before it really needed to be cleaned out.

Look up the CZ 82 in 9mm Marakov. Great value for what they can be purchased for. Got my parents one and it works perfectlyl for ~$230.

Glock is in a different league. While they say polimer it actually 80+ % metal.

I'm left handed and I struggled to find a ambidextrous semi automatic. I finally settled on a Beretta 92FS and a Bersa .380. Very please with the choices and my wife can handle the .380
