Finished my 72 gallon re-build last night at around 9. Started at 5:30 and completely removed and cleaned everything, even sand!

The 72g looks really nice! Have you thought about painting your intake and outflow tubes black to match your background? Can't wait to see fish in there! It's going to look great!

You always plan for the next bigger aquarium!!! Lol!!!

After talking with you yesterday, I am really considering painting them, my concern is the fish picking at them are a pleco chewing on the paint. Do you have a link in all your stuff on it? That's my only worry is that the fish will start to eat it if it flakes. Which I know it shouldn't, but it is a worry. LMK please.

I have used Krylon Fusion on a number of applications inside my tanks with excellent results. In fact, the eggcrate in my 90g you saw last night is painted with Krylon Fusion to better match the color of the sand (instead of being bright white).

The only time I've had it eaten off by my fish was when I painted a number of small clay pots to use as caves for my Pelvicachromis. Over the course of a few years, the parts of the pots that were under the gravel lost the paint, and there were other small areas where the original clay color was showing through which I figured was due to fish chewing it off. But keep in mind that the paint is specifically for plastic, not clay, which is why I believe the clay pots developed wear spots over time.

Here's a thread I found with others who have used it. People with experience of actually using the paint begin chiming in around post #7.

Here's a link to the paint you want to use. Make sure it's Krylon Fusion for Plastic. It "fuses" or bonds to the plastic instead of just coating it which is why it works so well in aquariums. Let it cure for 3-7 days before putting it in your tank.

That's a solution I'm thinking about pretty heavily as well. May even get some black tubing as well. Exploring options on everything right now. You know me.

I still think having the intake pipes match the background looks the best, especially when there is nothing hiding them, such as plants. If you don't match the background, then the closer you can come to matching it, the better. The idea is to blend in the colors so the hardware fades out of attention, leaving the fish to be the whole show.

I've used krylon fushion in fw and reef tanks with zero problems. Allow ample cure time and you'll be good

That's why I'm gonna look for some black pipe. If I can't find what I need then I'll paint. I got time to look. Even so. The green doesn't bother me.

I'd like them to be black but, it definitely ain't at the top priority at this time. Trying to devote money to Christmas, bills, and the final needed equipment needed for the 300.

Check Lowes, and look in the Irrigation (sprinklers) section. I bought some dark gray, appropriately sized piping from there on the cheap. Just need to be creative with which of their connections to buy to make sure you've got all you need.
