Well it has begun. After a long time of wanting, waiting, and scowering craigslist and other sites, I finally have bought a 300 Gallon aquarium!!!!
I bought the tank and stand from Baxter on the box. I picked it up and transported it immediately to "Custom Aquarium Cabinets", with the help of the awesome owner Mr. JHenry!!! The tank is now in his his more than capable hands, having all of the old seals removed and replaced, a center glass brace installed for my glass tops, the bottom wave form removed (looks like a piece of trim on the inside of the tank), The bottom facial trim re-installed, and a new black acrylic over flow box installed.
This aquarium will take the place of not only my 150 Gallon Malawi tank, but also my 50 gallon Malawi Mbuna tank. The 150 gallon will more than likely become home to my wife’s Fahaka puffer "Buddy", and the 50 gallon will be sold, (I have a high turnover rate with aquariums apparently, just got it 3 weeks ago). With any luck my 72 Gallon will then be turned into a/my first Tropheus colony tank, (If there not gone by that time I will probably be looking to pick up yours Justin, however I may only have room for the fry, we'll talk about that).
All rock in the aquarium will be Holey Rock. Wife loves it for the protection of the fry that are born into the aquarium. Have to give my wife a say in my aquariums. Not only because she allows me to have them but, also because I want her to get involved with them just like I am .
Well here are the pictures im going to start with. No I didn’t take pictures when I should have , I was trying to get it loaded before my daughter who wanted a nap very badly, had a complete melt down. More pictures will come in the near future as this build progresses.
My dad helped me get it in the garage.
