    Nick,

Nice pictures of the HLA mini-auction at Charles Jones Fish Ranch in Rosenberg.  Came home with several nice pairs of mollies.  Thanks for the post.

I came home with more plants to try to keep alive.  I do pretty good with crypts so they should be okay, my angels will make a nice snack out of the frog bit as well.  Darn Nick just had to outbid me on the hornwort and scuds   .

Thanks to everyone who  brought fish, plants and other assorted items to the auction.  It's always nice when the Clapsaddles are there, they bring really nice fish and it's quite the drive them.  And as always, Charles was as entertaining as ever   .

It was great meeting you all. I had a lot of fun and got some really nice fish (beautiful HUGE mollies, platies, and swordtails) and plants. They went into a couple of 40 breeder quarantine tanks and they look great! It was well worth the drive for me (about 550 miles round trip). My back is killing me (nothing a couple of vicodin and some sleep won't cure) but I feel great. Thanks for welcoming me. Hope to see you all again next time.

Hey! Another thing I forgot (this is more directed at Charles Clapsaddle): I would like to know for sure what the 'mystery' swordtails that Bill Allen sent are.

I'll think about it. I usually follow Groucho's advice: "I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member."   But I will definitely think about it.

                    Howdy All,

Nick...THANK YOU for posting the GREAT pictures! Charles Jones for being a GRAND meeting place host, the auctioneer/fish donations and suppling the sodas...Marion you might take some of this credit!  Susan & Nancy for helping with the meeting minutes and tracking the the sellers sheets!  Max for handling the accounting part of the auction! Gene for bringing the Pretzels!  Bill Allen for donating soooo many bags of fish to the club with a 'mystery' swordtail!  Everyone for traveling the distance and volunteering!

Ken, are you going to post the minutes & proposals here for discussion or do you have another place in mind ?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Re: June 28 HLA meeting/mini auction @ Fish Ranch

                        Howdy Bob and all,

I plan to email out the minutes and then post the minutes on the HLA website if I have good luck with doing so and the discussions can take place there.  If you all think they need to be posted on HFB with a new thread for HLA discussion I can do so; it might cause a lot of traffic.

Here is the answer that Bill Allen sent on the 'mystery' swordtail: I did cross some X. alvarezi into some of my HiFin's a while back because an old ALA Journal had a letter in which the author said that a cross with X. alvarezi gives a good HF dorsal, so it COULD have some X. alvarezi in it, I still have fish from that cross, but I never rally kept good records, plus i didn't use virgin females, so who knows? Just tell them that it's POSSIBLE that it'sa HF sword with some X. alvarezi heritage.  A QUICK X. alvarezi SEARCH BRINGS UP: http://fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=47328

We could probably all plan better and try to give some one a ride that needs one.  Villa1973 does not drive so could have used a ride...we missed his input and all his GREAT guppies.  LOL...I did bring one rider and all of Bob K. good stuff; we might have been able to fit one more person in if we triple stacked the fish and plants better in the cab.  NO MORE lugging the heavy table around!
