    Amazon sword (Echinodorus amazonicus)

    Common Name: Amazon sword
    Scientific Name:
    Echinodorus amazonicus

The Amazon Sword is a Rosette plant that is very popular with many hobbyists. They are capable of reaching approximately 20 inches in height under proper water conditions. The Amazon Sword Plant has short rhizomes, numerous lance shaped leaves that are pale to dark green with sharply pointed tips, and fairly short stems. It is an amphibious plant that will grow either partially or fully submersed. For the best results a loose substrate and an iron-rich fertilizer should be used.

    Tiger Datnoid (Datnioides microlepis)

This is a very large, beautiful predatory fish and the most common of the various Datnioides species available in the hobby.

I have 3 Dats living together in a 240g with other large carnivorous fish. They do not fight with other fish, but occasionally run each other out of a cave they want.

  • Dormitator maculatus (Sleeper Goby)

    Dormitator maculatus (Sleeper Goby)

Jade Sleeper Gobies are tube-shaped fish, female with blue/gray coloration while the male has the same base coloration, but is more colorful having orange and green on his stomach and dorsal.

They do best in brackish waters, but hard freshwater or even full saltwater are options.

These fish are extremely personable. For the first couple of weeks, I never saw them as they were always hiding in the rocks. But now they swim right into my hand to retrieve whatever food I happen to be offering.
