Charles that is my exact feeling. It is a little isolationist but I think that is what we need at this time in our civilization. Stop trying to be the police of the world and focus on issues at home. Why give money to fund a base in Korea when they bad mouth us all the time. Let them figure out how to deal with North Korea on their own. We are friends with Saudi Arabia for a multitude of reasons. And the reason we didnt attack them is that they have provided support to us in the war on terrorism, where as the other nations have not.

I would agree if we isolated ourselves completely but what I am suggesting is we only cut off those who show no interest in being friends of our nation and not provide aid or $$$ to THOSE countries. I would also not provide aid or $$$ to countries who CLAIM to be an ally yet speak out against us (Like the Philippines and the french. I hate the french after 9/11) and our rights within our own country.Originally posted by wesleydnunder View PostCan't really argue with that, Charles, though it sounds a little isolationist.
I would offer that support and aid to our true friends in the region.
OilOriginally posted by wesleydnunder View PostI'm curious though, why do we need Saudi Arabia as friends?

Again, no arguement. I knew the answer to the question... it was more rhetorical than anything else. I apologize for setting y'all up that way. I'm glad we agree on why we still call the Saudis "friends".Originally posted by ImaGuyGeek View PostI would agree if we isolated ourselves completely but what I am suggesting is we only cut off those who show no interest in being friends of our nation and not provide aid or $$$ to THOSE countries. Oil
I've been against giving money to other countries for decades. It grates on my nerves to see the taxes I busted my a$$ for being sent to Darfur or France or any other place that ain't US territory. I agree with Brian that we're not the world's police force and should stop wasting personnel and money trying to be.
I don't think we'll ever be able to keep our noses out of other countries' busness though... the oil companies own too many politicians for that. That's what started this whole mess between us and Islam in the first place.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
