On the north side , go to "Kyoto", on the west side of I45 ,north of Sawdust (Woodlands). Very nice, I guess family owned.
I started with Sushi in the early 80,s , Sakura (now gone ,would be next to BW 8), Cafe Japan, and a bunch of others.
There is one fish that is "fishy" no matter how fresh ; saba (mackral, king fish, blue fish, etc). In Japan I was told it is an "aquired" taste .

    Mark,

You will Love MASA. All of the Japanese at my work, claim it is the best place in town. I have to agree with them on what I have eaten and experienced so far. It is the most Japanese like Sushi Bar I have been too.

I spent a Month in Japan, and that is where I went from Sushi EWW nasty, to Loving it and craving it from time to time.

    Jack,
You have great food too, nothing against what yall have going on. I have been eating at Masa for over 2 years, and they have had Sapporro Gold Reserve that entire time. So it's been in town for atleast that long. I am so glad to know you guys are getting it now, this way I can enjoy my favorite Japanese beer too, when I am in your place.

Tokyo bowl does have the most consistently fresh fish to me.

    p.s. I can't stand salmon.
Good to know that some folks know the difference between sashimi and sushi. I like my sashimi with a little white rice on the side and a small bowl of soy/wasabi. Salmon is ok, if a little strong. Fresh tuna, however, is the shizznit!

I'll have to try masa and tokyo bowl. So far I've only been to Ichi-ban's and the one that used to be on 61st St. in Galveston. Both were tolerable. I got spoiled on good sushi and sashimi living in Japan for three years.

I DO NOT like pickled ginger in the sushi. Ewwwwww
