Well, back to Darbex's discus, how are the wigglers doing?
And, on the plastic plant subject, I think they look better than the half alive, or should I say, half dead ones I have. Your choices of Anubias and Java Fern are about the most practical live plants for a planted discus tank. The high heat can really be a plant killer.
Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...
Leaving them I dont have plans on breeding them its more of if they do then they do I wont stop it but I am not going to propagate it either. Survival of the fittest.
I am watching in earnest to see if yours survive. I have 2 pair in a community tank that have been having broods for several weeks. One pair got ttheirs to free swimming and eating the slime coat of the parents. But they didn't last long despite leaving lights on. The parents paid attention to other discus but not to the tetras rams and apistos. So they didn't last.
Dan says I need to move parents to another tank but , like you I dont want to breed. I hope you get a few survivors somehow. I have had the apistos and rams have broods and when i think they are all gone one day a juvi or 2 shows up from nowhere. Its neat to see survivors.
Yeah I am worried about the tetras going after them. But I do not want to go through the hassle of breeding so if they make it great. Its kind of funny because there is like one other discus that the parents allow somewhat near and he/she helps defend the area. I dont know what that is about and the first I have ever seen this.
I agree with your methodology in breeding. I feel the same way with my fish... If they breed and the little fishies make it, that's great, if not that's ok too.
I already spend so much time and energy on providing a comfortable home for them, I don't want to start stressing out about raising little babies (I already have a baby in the house- our 10 week old puppy) :)
