Thanks guys. Still not where I want it but it'll be a while. Gonna move the java fern and hopefully it'll do better

Riccia (floating plant?) and the anubias and java fern are nearly bulletproof, they'll eventually bounce back. They are just very slow growers and once they get moved require a bit of time to settle in to their new water parameters. Just stick them in that driftwood and you should be great to go. As to a temporary light, just grab a clip on and throw a 6500 CFL bulb in it. Move it up if algae becomes an issue and you'll be golden until you can get something a bit better looking.

Added and removed some plants. Picked up some frogbit and more wendtii thanks to LordBarron7692. Removed all of the sword plants and gave them to amirk7. I'm gonna need a plant light sooner than I thought. Most of the plants are doing well and thriving. The java fern and anubias nana petite are barely holding on. Wisteria is growing roots like crazy so I decided to break them into smaller parts where the roots were growing so I'd have more. I found the pygmy chain plant hidden in the floater plant (forgot what it was called...) and planted in in the foreground for now. Added some more root tabs and Flourish.

Hahah nice! I have no clue if mine are male or female but I got hooked up with about 6-7 of them! I have no clue what the nerites are though. They have a similar pattern as the assassin snails (black and yellow stripes) but they're round.

I have 2 assassin snails which turned out to be exactly a female and a male lol... I'm now having extra baby sin snails lurking around eating baby ramshorn which explain why I often find empty shells every week

Yup. They aerate the substrate. I have assassin snails thanks to Roy and I also have nerites and some tylos for this purpose. I never want mts again... They multiply faster than rabbits and look hideous!

I will buy a few in the future. Maybe 2-3 for the same purpose of keeping hair algae to a minimum.

if you ever get some amano shrimp let me know, I'd like to get some too, like 2-3 to help control the hair algae a little. even though I kinda enjoy the musty/old/ancient look of the hair algae on my plants, too much of it is a problem.

My 100g is the only one with sand and I don't vacuum because my fish like to redecorate and then redecorate after they've decorated

Yeah I've noticed that with the corys, they'll dash up to three surface to grab air and then resume sifting. Haven't seen them burp yet.
