Re: Hurricane Ike....................
I work at a fire station just up the street from here. We stayed in service and made runs until about 5:30am, when the city finally shut down. All I can say was that is was one of the most nerve-racking experiences of my life trying to continually drive through that storm last night.
I got released at 10am this morning and it took about 45 minutes to drive home (normally a 15 minute drive with traffic/lights). I only saw the southwest side of town, but based on that I can tell you that the city is in bad shape.
My wife lost power at home around 8pm last night and it came back on about 6pm today. No damage to the home, or most of my neighbors, but a few didn't fair so well. We had a generator that she started up immediately and so the all the fish are good.
I had to take a mish-mosh of roads to get home this morning, taking me past Xtreme Fish on Bellaire. They had some water leaks and wind damage, but had generators running and all the fish looked good.

I didn't even have to ask! I'm still not home but we are leaving this morning, we are also bringing home a second generator just in case. I won't have internet once I get home so I wanted to let everyone know all is well over here. I'll see my babies later today.
