I've had tanks that were a 1/4 off with no issue. Is it good in the long run, no. That why, you shim (like was mentioned by a previous member) to try to get as close as possible. My tank in my dining room has 1/4 shims on side. It's actually not the house either, it's just who ever floated the tile didn't float it right.

While being level is important I still don't believe the tank arbitrarily broke because of being slightly off level. If anything you would lose a deal first. Glass while brittle has a pretty good tensile strength.

I still feel that this was a pre-exsiting(prior to filling and cracking) condition. Yes there could have been extra stress to a point on the tank glass that caused the crack, but it started from else. A scratch, nick, cut, scrap, etc.. Over the past few years I've moved easily over 50 in and out of my house, not one has busted/cracked due to an uneven placement.

I can promise you this much as much as no one wants to admit the truth, no one here's tank is perfectly level. Every tank has an edge or corner that sees more weight or pressure than the others. It's just the nature of the beast.

Was this setup on carpet or tile?

Don't get rid of you stand unless you just want to. Unless you can physically see a deformation your stand is probably fine.

This tank is setup on the first floor on tile. I checked the stand earlier and the rear pieces of wood that connect from the bottom to the top seem bent and since water got on the corners it got loose. So I'm just going to get a new stand aND tank... I paid 500. For tank, stand, canopy, fx5, eheim2217, 2 Marineland led. I know the fx5 itself is worth quite a bit

In retrospect, if I'm not mistaken from one of your photos, the wall in the corner is cracked all the way to the top. It means that corner of your house got settlement problem. I bet you the floor in that corner is not even. Is this second floor where the tank is?

if youre talking about the first photo, we painted the room we just didn't finish the corner which looks like a crack. That is just the corner of the walls where they meet its just not finished painted. One wall is purple and the wall where the tank is is grey. I'm just going to buy a new stand and tank and fish land. And move the tank to another wall. I don't want to risk it anymore on that side. I'm a make sure the floor I put it on next is even

Bought one used and just when I was about to connect the fx5. Crack!!! It's started dripping in the right rear corner. I don't know what happened to be honest. So Im in in the process of draining it right Now. I don't know what to do now /:

To be honest, I don't think it's that critical that you have to get rid of the stand. First determine if the stand is nice and level (which I think it is). If the floor is not level, you can take care of un-even surface with shim on the floor. I have tile floor and it's not even where I put one of my tanks. I shim it a little bit using hard cardboard box. Once you shim it up and put the tank on top of the stand, try to shake the tank gently, if it's not moving, you are good to go.

I moved the stand, the rear post that attach the top and bottom are a little loose and they seem croooked.

There might not be anything wrong with the stand. It could be the floor is just a little uneven. If that is the case a new stand would not help. See what I mean? Somehow you have to find out what is uneven. It would be horrible to get a new stand and a new tank and that tank cracks too.

If you sell the stand, be sure to let the buyer know why you're selling it

I agree with these guys. The tank cracked because of uneven support. The stand actually twisted once the weight of the water was on it. I had a 100 gallon do the same thing. I will now build a stand in the place where it will be used so I know it is totally even and supported. Even if you put a level on the stand and it appears level, it can still twist once the weight is put on it.

So you think I should buy a new stand and tank and find a new place to put it?
