aerobic bacteria will colonize anything with surface area and flow past it so that it can have nutrients and oxygen. i dont know if two days is enough to colonize completely but it will help. amano disciples will seed a canister filter for two months but that is probably a very safe time period. make sure to use a product like Stability to help add extra troops to the fight in addition to your seeded bacteria. probably the best things to transfer are biomedia (especially biowheels), sponge filters, and/or substrate. if you rinse them in old tank water to clean them then they will be good, just dont use tap water or they are done for. also old tank water that has been sitting for days in a bucket with no filtration is not much use for seeding. its just, as EK said once, dirty water although it will be aged.

i find the AAP site to be very interesting especially since it has some non traditional advice on some topics. I have emailed Carl a few times and he seems very knowledgable.

They'll find stuff to snack on, like the molts. Sometimes they'll get eaten by each other or the adults though.
