I hate to sound dumb but what is a carbon bottle ? Do you buy it or make it ? I have 13 tanks running and am tring to figure out a cheaper solution to prime amquel stress coat etc.

Back on topic yea i would get a rv hose whit 25 ft. walmart 10 bucks here you know its safe .I have 2 pythons and it takes forever for me also so im defitnley getting a bigger hose to drain with ,i'm interested in the filling though even with a larger hose more volume will you put it in faster ?I always run it slow for the first say 25% then let it rip but thats with a python ,i guess this is where the carbon bottle would come into play. Does it remove chlorine, metals,& clorimine ? How do you check for clorimine levels? Sorry for getting off topic .

carbon bottle basically a bottle with carbon in it with other water filtering media to filter the crap that the city puts in the water.

people say the snake is better... some say the reactor type design is better... i personally dont know which is better but with the carbon bottle i think it does remove chloramine. I MIGHT BE WRONG dont take my word on it

Ok gotcha! I just watched the video on the snake looks super easy to put together i may build one tomorrow . I was looking at my citys water report we have chloramine at 4ppm idk if thats bad are good lol! All i know is all these bottles of prime are adding up so i have to do something to keep the costs down . I wonder if it would be ok to put the carbon with the ammonia remover in it in the snake or bottle i guesss it wouldnt hurt ? Do you use one of these? I feel like i need to start a thread i hope no one gets upset on this semi hijack

50ft drinking water safe 5/8" Camco water hose is $17.97 + tax at wallyworld. Need to get a nice nozzle for it to control water flow at the tank rather than run back to the kitchen sink.

i was looking into building one of these too but i just havent yet. i work in the chem / refining industry so i am familiar with this type of process. i feel that the snake would have greater media contact time than a bottle and thus be more productive. if you stuff it with regular old carbon then it will not remove chloramines. if you use catalytic activated carbon like the Centaur brand from Calgon it will remove chlormaines and sulfides as well. its really pricey though.

For what you I got for the money with this hose, the clear hose/fittings route would have been more expensive for a 50ft length of 5/8" ID.

Kitchen sink has to be cutting down on your flow also. Any other way to hook the hose to a bigger line??

Kitchen sink has plenty of pressure once the aerator is removed, and the answer to the question is no.

although pressure and flow work together, pressure doesnt determine how fast you fill the tank as much as flow rate. you can only shove so much liquid through a 1" PVC pipe (assuming thats your home line size). I am not a residential plumber, but I would guess that you would have to get at the main line to get more flow. maybe run filler hoses from every faucet in the house lol.

Seeing how you and I have the same amount of experience in plumbing, I'll take what you say with a grain of salt and enjoy my little DIY project. After all that's what Amano would do )
