i finally got around to installing the purigen bags that i bought during the petmountain sale. i have never been big on chemical filtration since i usually have plants but i must admit i am totally sold on purigen. since i always have driftwood inside there are always some tannins but i do 33% water changes and thought the water was clear. wrong! now its clear. and the plants look like i just replaced the lamps in the fixture above. even the shrimp seem to be more active. not that i ever doubted any of you, but seeing is believing and i will never run a tank without the stuff again.
The TLF are pretty cheap and work great since the design is already there. I was only gonna mod the HOT cause I got it for almost nothing and the water filter housing project was cause I thought they were cheap at the hardware store but once I found the price of them and all what it would take to make it work I went ahead and shelled out the greenbacks for a nice looking rig. also made the decision easy when CityPets had one instock and price competitively.
