Floating New Fish in Breeder Box

They had some kind of troph at City Pets that I loved. I swear I think the name was black saddle troph. Did a quick net search and nothing came up. Should've wrote it down. LOVED it's face.

The only extra tanks that I have are 10gal. Well I do have a 45gal sitting in the kitchen but it has to be resealed and it's skinny and tall. A friend pulled it out of the garbage at some apartments. Looks like it came off of a show room floor, but it needs every thing including resealed.

Phat at Fish & Pets Unlimited resealed my 30gal and I swear that thing will explode before it ever leaks again.

Once they pair up, you have to remove all the other males or the dominant male will kill them. He would tolerate the extra females though.

My dogs drive my husband nuts, so I'm thinking of telling him that if I could have a bigger tank I wouldn't need any more dogs.

I have 2 proven pairs that keep making babies in the Moba tank, but no fry ever survive. I had to move them out because they become aggressive during breeding. They would not stand down to a 8" Moba and actually attack them.

I pretty much acclimate the way that you do except for putting them in the breeder box after I've added my water to theirs over an hours time. I will float the new ones over night if the established ones are acting like they might be too aggressive, which is usually "Jerk Face," my socolofi. LOL Now and then I slow drip. I also like to feed as I'm adding new fish to distract every one.

My tank still doesn't look real full but 8 of my guys are between 1-2". That's acei and labs. My 6 peacocks are between 2-3"

as for adding new fish, i usually float the bag for about an hour. i slowly add tank water in intervals into the bag just incase the pH is different, and helps the newcomer adjust. the temp balances in that time too.

usually the fish will swim up to the bag and try to peck a bit and investigate, but seems to get them used to the new guy before release. then i just monitor. feeding shortly after release is also a good distraction so the new fish can get their bearings

with africans, having a larger group helps. new fish can just get lost in the crowd and nobody seems to care or notice

I have 6 adults Brichardi including 2 breeding pair in a Tang community tank. I also have a pair of Tetracanthus in there, and the Tetra help keep them in check.
