Yeah the wave action is minimal with only one pump... right now I can get a full 1" wave on the opposite side of the tank with just the pump so with a second slaving I should get something impressive.

that current is pretty crazy you can see them all fighting it , not as insane as your 30g planted salt though :)

Yeah... that's about as bad as it gets, normally it's the Ilangi's chas'em down so they don't think about chasing each other much.

Dude that last video is my favorite.

Did you catch all the Longola on Longola hating going on?

Oh definitely. Maybe I could just get something smaller/cheaper for them, like a 55 to hold them in until I could get another 6 footer when I replace the 150. Hmmm.......

I like the way cyps look and the colors of the nicer ones like Tim has but honestly they don't do much for me.... the Xenos on the other hand have a bit of "individuality" but if you are ditching the 90g the xenos and trophs might be a problem.

What do you think I should do? I'm getting bored with the cyps, but the xenos are beautiful!

yeah, I had to tear down my tank net fry to fund my upgrades... don't know what's gonna pay for this second vortech that's on the way though.

    Vortech's kick @ss!

I've been considering lately of ditching the 90 to fund a halide fixture and re-configuring my filtration set up on the 150.

Some vids now that they are use to the vortech... Getting some crazy schooling action from them! What use to be on occassion and broken is now pretty much all day long!

Have the vortech on "reefcrest" mode which is a shorter pulse width random pattern and power is set at about 70-80% right now.

Flow- I feel that the high flow rates help the fish.
Keeps oxygen up, makes sure every bit of water comes in contact with filtration, keeps the fish moving which helps them metabolize.

Dosing- I dose VitC, Amino Acids, broad vitamin/ Minerals supplement, magnesium, iodine, calcium and iron. There's a lot of minerals that our tap does not provide.

Lighting does effect the fish... the algae growth is on the small side but there are also key factors of lighting effects on fish and how their body ultilizes it. There's also when lights on fish is on so to speak.

Refugium- not only excess nutrient uptake as we know as nitrates but the exchange in other nutrients and minerals from plants and of course the gas exchange.

Filtration- the quicker it comes in contact with biofiltration the faster it gets produced and kept from being stagnant is what I believe. Also plays the same role as flow. Right now I'm running a mag12 powered wet/dry with 2x2262's which is sightly above satisfactory for me.

Aggression- the fight vids I posted were induced by me. New rockscape layout as well as the introduction of new males. Aggression leads to stress and stress leads to problems. The little control we have over it should be acted upon.

There's been a lot of things I experimented with in my reef tanks that in time I plan on applying to tropheus cause I feel it works and works great.

Also a lot of things that we forget to keep in mind that's so obvious, just need for us to realize it.

Now this is what is working for me from my own experience.... just wanted to point out that you won't know till you try it and how lame it is to follow the "rules" deemed by someone else's failures.

I learned a lot from the reefing.... found that not holding back makes for a much nicer tank regardless of how much someone tries to deny it.
well since i know a little (very little) about reefing
-lots of flow - powerheads etc
-dosing- just vit-c, or are you dosing amino acids too :)
-lots of lighting -does this really seem to have an effect on fish only tank?
-refugium -i can def see the benefits to water quality
-filtration - the more the better i know this and i know what i feel is satisfactory . what is satisfactory to you as far as fitration on a tank that size? 125g right?
-aggresion- not sure what you mean by this . im guessing you dont want that much aggresion? cant be too sure though ek i've seen your fight club vids
i know i ask you alot of stuff and you have helped me alot in the past especially with trophs and i greatly appreciate it but if there is anything listed you dont want to share thats fine.

    Your question was kinda vague.

What more did you want to know?

Take a full blown reef tank...remove the corals and fish and now put tropheus in its place. Adjust accordingly.
