  • This little guy is hyper! This is one of my juvie Pseudotropheus sp. "Msobo Deep". He's extremely difficult to photograph because he does not stay still. I have three of these. This is the best shot I could get of any of them.

Neolamprologus pulcher "Daffodil”. I know this is a common fish, but there's a reason. They are just gorgeous! Cassy said I could put one in the tank so this is the one I got. Really pretty!

      • That's probably because it isn't Malawi!

        • Okay, last pics! I saved two of the larger fish for last since they have their colors already. They really help make the entire tank.

This one should be Protomelas steveni "Taiwan Reef".

Edited: This one turns out to be Aulonocara koningsi Mbenji "Blue Regal".

And this is my Aulonocara “Blue Regal”, but I'm not sure which one. Anyone know which one this might be?

Edited: This one is Aulonocara stuartgranti "Cobue".

That's it! All my new fish.

          • So far, so good on all the fish! They really make the tank come alive. The German Red Peacock seems to be doing okay, but he's still less active than the others. He is eating which is a good sign. He swims around a bit, but he seems happier to stay in one place. The places change, and he doesn't seem to be hiding (as a sick fish would). I think he's going to be okay, but I'm still going to keep an eye on him.

The little lelupi tried to maintain about 1/2 the tank for his territory, but there are too many fish for him to keep up with. So he's now in another location. Fortunately, he's the smallest fish in the tank.

            • Uh oh, looks like I may have my first sign of trouble. I did a water change and noticed that my Geo looks like he either has an injury around his mouth or he's getting some white fuzzy stuff. I just added Pimafix to the tank. I don't know if I can get the Geo out of the tank for a hospital tank. I hope it's just an injury and not an infection, but it could be both.

                • Yeah, I know. I'm wondering if he got injured eating earlier today? But if it's infected, then he was injured before today. It's hard to say. So far, he's behaving fine, but you know that can change quickly.

I've just started to get some aggression in the tank (the largest peacock has chased some of the other large peacocks a little), but I haven't seen anyone chasing the Geo. I'll keep a close eye on him.

                  • I tried to get a picture of him, but he moves too fast, and all I'm doing is stressing him out. So I looked at him closely with magnifying glasses. It looks like an injury, not an infection. But a small part of his lip is torn. It's like a hangnail. Ouch! I wonder if he hurt himself during the water change? I think I would have noticed this earlier.

I have a Turbo Twist 12X 36W UV Sterilizer on the tank which should be strong enough to kill parasites and bacteria. Plus, I have the Pimafix. If he doesn't get infected, it might be okay. But geeze, his mouth of all places! Poor little guy!

So it looks like it's a new injury and I caught it very early. I'll keep the water clean and keep a close eye on him.

I tried, but he kept moving so all I'd get was a blur of him swimming away. I'll try again tomorrow.

                          • Update on Geo... Looks good so far. The white color around his mouth is beginning to be less pronounced. He still has that little piece hanging off, but it's not stopping him from eating or doing anything he normally does. It doesn't appear to be getting infected either. It looks more and more like he scraped himself when I did the water change. I'll keep watching him, but it's looking good so far.
