Aw. That's frikkin nice of you! Problem with that is I keep having to pummel this tank with H2O2 and it'd be too crazy to have to pull out all the subwassertang every time I had to do a treatment. :( I really appreciate it though! If you've got any Christmas moss, I'll take that!Originally posted by TexSun View PostBee, if you're in need of more subwassertang I have some you can have.

Mini pellia, subwassertang and the like do not like high doses of H202 or Excel either... learned the hard way

durn. the vals are going crazy so i dont want to disurb them right now. i guess i will pluck out the HA tufts for the time being. i am surprised no one is eating it between the amanos, SAE, black mollies, and rosy barbs

I have lots of amanos in the tank, and they handle the H2O2 just fine. In fact, I have to bat them away from whatever I'm treating because they are usually on the algae. I've worried about them getting right back on the treated algae while the H2O2 is fizzing away at it, but if they do, it doesn't seem to be a problem because I've never lost any shrimp.Originally posted by Totenkampf View Posti am still getting green hair algae on a small scale and may try the H2O2 dosing on that. Do you have shrimp or vals in your aquarium? I have read that they may be sensitive to peroxide at some level.
I do not have vals in the tank. They will die out with H2O2. Some people have reported that they'll grow back, but I still wouldn't recommend it. If you want to use H2O2, I'd pull the vals out, treat the tank, and then put the vals back in the next day after the H2O2 has broken down. The vals stand a much better chance at surviving that way than if you left them in during the treatment.

Thanks Sunny and Bee! I'm really happy to see the tank turn around to quickly and so completely. I had been hoping to wait until now to address the algae issue (when my midterms were over), but the tank was looking so bad, I didn't think it could wait. I was afraid the algae would cut off the light to the plants, making everything worse. So I had no choice but to treat it when I did. Now that I see the results, I couldn't be happier!
I'm still getting over being sick, but as soon as I get to feeling better, I'm going to transfer the rest of my fish from my 75g to my 90g so I can start redoing my 75g. Then I'll be able to split the plants up between the two tanks. That's when I can actually scape the tanks.

i need to get around to taking some pics, but my phone doesnt cut it and the camera is on the fritz.
i think the bubbles that i do get are from trapped air being burped into the system. my reactor is exactly like the rex version in design. i do have an additional bleed port on the top tho, i will eventually get around to connecting that to a venturi or something similair so that i can draw it off and recirc the gas pocket through the system.

That is awesome. I'm going to have to do the same in my nano once this month is over and I actually have some free time, maybe. Congrats!Originally posted by Complexity View PostQuick update on the algae. I am very happy to say that ALL of the algae is gone! The last H2O2 treatment did the trick. Even the dead algae has either been eaten or has melted away because there's no trace of it left. It's been a number of days and no algae appears to be coming back either. So it looks like the tank has now gone past the algae stage! Yay!
