I"m currently shooting a Canon XSi with a 28-135IS USM lens, and frankly LOVE that combo. the lens was about 350 on ebay. new. but the picture quality is intense.

and as far as good courses, i'm currently enrolled with New York Insitiute of PHotography and it's a go at your own pace course you do from home. loving it. not bad either for what you pay for it's cheaper than a single 3 hr class at a private university honestly. i signed up during a sale and it was 750, plus u got ALL these gifts etc.

I'm super excited to have a few camera nerds to talk to. i call off most of that stuff to the hubby and he's so lost. :)

like previously said...that is a awesome walk around lens. i use it as my every day lens honestly, and even shoot alot of weddings and senior portrats professionally with that lens. if you are going to pugrade, again, like it was stated earlier, get a flash (580ex is great) and then a prime lens, like the 100mm macro. that's what i'm saving for in addition to the Canon 5D mark ii. going full frame with HD video lol.

I got my trews about a 1 1/2 months ago at 1", they are now 2 1/2". They really have started taking off now that I moved them to the algae garden known as the 200g w/ the Livua. They are stripping my rocks white.
