    Pix of the new colony

    I got them this afternoooooooon!!!!!!!!!!!!

    29 females 9 males.

One female was holding and spit mostly yolk sacs into the bucket, so I dropped them into the dub tank because I have no tumbler and I don't want them in with the Ilangi or moops. They didn't even make it three inches into the tank's water before they were eaten. At least they didn't rot in a filter pad...

I cannot believe that I got this colony for free!! I kept thanking this guy over and over and over. And probably will for a long time to come.
I can't wait to see what they look like once they settle in!

    Thanks for looking guys!!!

        Nice pick up Jenney.

        Great ratio too!

Don't know how these fish are being collected but they are coming in with good ratios. Jesper's colony has a simular ratio as yours.
I ate my fish that died.

          Jenney,

That is amazing that you were able to get those fish for free. What a Christmas present that was.

Thanks for posting the pics, cannot wait to see fry pics.

Be sure to get that peacock out of there, bad fry eaters!

          Thanks!!

Not sure what the ratio is.. right now I have 29 fish, with either 9/20, 8/21 or 7/22. I have not sexed them since they arrived and both the fish that died I was not there to sex the dead one :(

I'm waiting unitl the January meeting to sell off those two male peacocks. All my tanks have fry in them that would easily fit in their mouths! They were in the 29, but that needed to be the grow out tank for Ilangi fry. I figured I'd toss 'em in the new (to me) 75 to have something in the tank to keep the filters good. I really didnt' think I would actually get the colony!
On the other site, Gernot said that Chilambo are usually called Kabeyeye/Nangu. I remember Thai saying that Chilambo aren't in Aqualog. But I looked, and those other names are used synonomously under fish that look very very similar. Close enough for me to say "I agree with you". What do you guys say?

I'm totally bummed about the itty bitty yolkies that were in the bottom of the pail! There were about 8, too. Now, I feel I should make a tumbler. Even tho it really is a day late and a dollar short. :icon_hang: Hopefully she has a few left. They're pretty big! 3-5 inchers. Butch (NOT from AMS!!), the guy who gave them to me, said the biggest ones were females and sure enough, when I was venting there they were.

Santa is a pretty cool dude, indeed for bringing me these fish!
              All the best,
              Jenney.

Given that you were blessed with this awesome colony for a great price

when they start breeding for you...will you be giving the fry away for free as well. Kind of like passing the blessing on to others.

Maybe the first 38? Symbolic and literal offerings to the karma that landed me this colony. Hmmm.
Re-ask that question when I've got fry.

that would be really cool if you did that. I hope you dont think im implying anything...I promise Im not. If you wanted to sell the fry, then that would be cool as well.

If we lived in the same city or even remotely close to each other, your question may be suspect.

Butch asked, that as part of the deal I give him some fry in 6 months. Does that count as my payment back to the karmic wheel?

When he came over to give them to me, the first tank he saw was my 125 with big, gorgeous WC Ilangi in it. I told him he could have some of their fry when he was ready to get a Troph tank up again. I offered him the same with the moops and dub Kigoma. I predict he'll want the Ilangi. And I'd give him some!! Or maybe the namansi (if I EVER can get any) when I get some.........

After the namansi, I'm afraid I'll be tapped out for room. Well, you know, beds ARE highly overrated in this country. So maybe not tapped out after all.

Anyway. When you see me posting pix of the fry. Feel free to ask again.
Maybe I could set up an essay contest on the Box. People write in a thread why they should get 38 free juvie Nangu/Chilambo/Kabeyeye. Shipping paid by recipient, of course. That would be kind of cool, acutally...Or I could do it in my club-no shipping that way.

I am not 100% but I have seen others who have Namansi and the only way to get them going is to make sure they are king of the tank. They are not aggressive enough again most others and they will not breed if not.
I know as soon as John removed his Simo's the Namansi went to town.. Don and Thai any of you guys have anything else besides Namansi in the tank ?

I have namansi on the solo. They seem to act just like the ulwiles I had before. I wouldn't say they are different from any other tropheus. Just a little skittish and they school a little tighter....but so did the ulwiles. All tropheus are going to breed better with a single colony in one tank. Simos might punk any type of tropheus. They boys are bad man.

I think the green macros would test them more than the dubs.

So far they are doing well.Man that tank is too small for them!

I have a line on a 135 for cheap (with stand) but I'd have to put the tank in front of one of my doors (I have 3) to get outside and my book shelf in front of another. Less ways for intruders to get in, eh?

                                Seriously,
Hi my name is Jenney and I'm a trophaholic. I have multiple tank syndrome compounding my addiction to Tropheus. I am powerless over my addiction. Whenever I see pictures posted by fellow addicts my palms sweat and my heart races and I toss and turn with my obsession.

I need to rescape the teeny tank because Mr Dominant has claimed it all. No surprise. So, should I do two piles as far apart as possible or one at the far end of the tank and have free swimming area?

They're gearing up to spawn, BTW. I've seen some dry run shake and bake in one of the crannies.

                                Jenney.
