gonna give this a try for a little while. I think it looks super clean. if it starts to bug me then Im gonna try and paint the bottom of the glass a sand color and see it that will fit both "needs". for now, Im tired of the dirty sand and want to try something new. I think my sand was holding onto a lot of algae and making my water look green/yellowish. My next improvement will be to replace the MH bulbs with new ones and see if that brightens things up.

well, after helpin Geoff move all weekend...it finally rubbed off on me. I just finished removing about 85% of the sand from the tank. It was really easy too. I just got a large rubbermaid and put the drain tube in there and starting sucking the sand out. the sand was heavy enough to fall to the bottom and the rubbermaid just constantly overflowed into the grass. in a couple days(next waterchange) I will remove the rock and get the remaining sand out. I will post pics when Im done with that. the fish have already showed that they like it. the petros are shakin again and the trophs are too!!!
