There was some nice ones and there was a few or at least two I saw that where not good ones (ie they came to the auction sick)

i hope everyone bags there fish right. I get so tired of seeing fish in bags with hardly any air or leaking.

                    Zulaab,

Yes I began my experience with Discus I won at the last auction. I hope to add to my Discus tank. Hopefully, Walter is reading this. It would be nice if Dan brought his prizes as well.

I doubt either will bring much in the discus group.....the few ending ones went for pennies compared to what you would expect for them.

They went for pennies on the dollar is because they were probably under the impression that they were putting it on a table that was going to be auctioned 1st or 2nd when people were there to buy fish, instead they got there to find out that some brillant individual decided to not have a tables go in an order, but randomly pick & choice and those fish got sold last when no one was there. Who ever got them got a deal but the seller got hosed twice, first on price and second because the "new random" crap wasn't known until you got there.

Never been to any auction that there was not a clear list in which things were going to be auctioned. Never heard of randomly picking lots and their sub-lots to be auctioned.

I tried to find out yesterday whether this would be the case again yesterday and called the for information line(funny call to get info and can't get any?) listed on the HAS page and got a big I DONT KNOW, emailed officers of the club and got only one response and it was I DONT KNOW. What? You are getting 25% of my stuff and you can't even tell us(sellers) how you plan to run the auction and sell our stuff. I know good and well people put alot of time into their fish and you are not going to be clear how you are selling the items we put our time into.

I spoke with an officer of HAS about this at the last auction, actually. I don't want to say anything incorrect, though, so I'll let one of them answer on here. But it seemed legit to me. It's just that people can find ways to take advantage of every possible situation.

Per the HAS Website> Auction Rules

--There is no bag limit! Priority stickers will be issued at the time of registration. Each seller in the auction will be allotted four colored stickers for each four items to be placed in the auction. The items will be divided into four color groups; red, yellow, green, and blue. These color groups will not be sold in any particular order.  If a buyer wishes to move a bag up in the auction, he may do so by paying a $2.00 fee.

I actually prefer this method.....I know HAS was having problems with people bringing their own color codes and coding ALL their bags with the color from Table one. Cant be mad at HAS for trying to make the auction fair for all.

Ok...we discussed it and we're going to go back to Red -yellow-green-blue. You see the problem was when people knew the order they brought their own red stickers and frontloaded the auction with all of their items. What we're going to do this time is make sure each item passes through a point where someone from HAS can review the item....and admittedly this may take a little longer. It's a shame that we have to try to figure out ways to discourage or prevent people from trying to cheat the system. The reason I hadn't emailed you back is because we truly hadn't made a decision yet on how we were going to do this. HAS has run auctions the same for at least twenty years the same way...so it's not a matter of not knowing how to "plan to run the auction and sell our stuff"...it was just a matter of trying to make it more fair to the majority of the sellers who are playing by the rules. By the way...all of the other fish auctions in Texas (and I go to every single one) have the tables done in random color order. By the way...your fish didn't go low because of the order they went in...it was the total number of items in the auction. I reviewed things after the last auction and it was the same way for all of the sellers. Not trying to sound harsh here...but we do the best we can and play the hand we're dealt.
