Yeah that damn wasted youth... at least you traveled :)

I have been to India, Malaysia, almost anywhere in Europe, still missing to goto Africa and Australia... but who knows.. down the road it could happen :)

Lasted well into my 50s, actually...now I keep fish and hang out with my daughter.

Gee guys, while we're bragging...I have probably been to more countries than I have been to states in the US...I lived in Germany, Italy and Portugal when I was younger and visited quite a few more... at one time could speak six languages...and yes, I did bring a hookah back from Turkey in 1969 or '70...but it broke a long time ago...and I never ever used it...it was for decorative purposes only...so I am looking to Jimmy to teach us the finer points at the next meeting...and we do need some DuPont gaz, if you have any there at your smoke shop...

Btw, I am the chunky blonde with the dog and my husband Roy is the good looking guy with the beard sitting on the stairs...and we do look forward to seeing all of you (old and new) at the next meeting here...

Not on the physical plane...but I'm sure there's a terminal on the Astral Plane. Very visible in the Clear Light...

Jzaid84...I saw a few Hookahs along the way, more in Turkie than anywhere else; fat wad of Turkish tobacco in the bowl, very ornate and quite beautiful, well used.
Many places in Asia use water pipes, but Hookahs are a whole 'nother thing...cultural and works of art.

Thanks for posting the pics... and putting peopls names by them... I struggle with remembering names/screennames.

as for hookah... I'm down... I've had a hookah for a few years... and recently discovered how much better flavor natural coals have then the self lighting ones.

Jzaid84  a question about the natural coals... I cant seem to ever get the heat right with them... Its either too hot and harsh, or not hot enough and not making enough smoke...  if I put one finger on its not hot enough but with 2 its too hot, a friend said to break up the one coal into smaller pieces... but how do I do that... if I do it while its hot I might get burned... and if I do it before I light it, then its in little pieces that wont light easily on the stove...

dont want to threadjack... maybe we should make a hookah questions thread...

Natural coals are the way to go, most definitely, and then Jap. style coals.

Starlight Jap. Style Coals: These are good, but they do let off quite a smell when lighting.

As far as heat, it just takes trial and error, mainly. To cut coals, use a serrated knife, like a steak knife, and just score it on 3 sides. Once scored, they snap quite easily. Try to aim for 1" pieces; this sizes tends to be the ideal size as far as heat necessity, bowl size, and manageability.

If I end up coming to the next meeting, and if Im allowed to bring a hookah, Ill show you how it's done. Im middle eastern (Palestinian, Christian to be more precise) so I grew up around this stuff. I know all the tricks and every possible way to set it up. Hopefully I can enlighten some of you with Hookah (to those who dont know much about them) and we can have a good night.

Any more questions about Hookah, please do not hesitate, more than likely I have the answer for you.

I'm using the nour coals.  still experimenting with getting the heat right... havnt been smoking that often lately... and havnt been using the natural coals for very long either.  Thanks for the info.
