    Re: GHAC January 2008 Meeting

I think you should be able to sell some of your items, rather than only donate (let the club take 10% or so)...that way it will be worth your while to bring some of the good "stuff" and get $$ for it so you can buy other people's things...comments, please...       H

Buntbarsch1.....this isn't a formal auction ...it's just something we do when we get together and have our monthly meetings....we're in the process of trying to put together a nice sized auction sometime in the near future.....we've done this at our meetings and found that we have so much fun....and it raises money for our newly formed venture so that we can start having alot of activities in our club....your welcome to join us if you'd like to do so.....thanks for your suggestions though.....

Maybe put a limit of 2 items each to be auctioned with 10% going to the club? Even if theres 30 people there with 2 items each, it shouldnt take more than 30-45 minutes.

And make it cash only, paid at the end of the auction.

Sounds like a winner to me. When I was in NY and in Denver, both clubs ran what they called mini-auctions at the end of every meeting with exactly those terms - 10% to the club and cash only.  It was alot of fun and good practice for the real auctions.  :)

Will there be any outlines to what will be going on this year for the club and it's members?

                          Re: GHAC January 2008 Meeting

Of course we will discuss events for the club this year.  We will talk about some minor changes to the Membership fees and we have a couple of announcements.  The Jan. News Letter will be out in the next day or two.  We have a few announcements about the newsletter as well.

How many of you are interested in doing a mini auction with or without a Raffle at the meeting?

Everyone is welcome to the meeting.  If you are new or just haven't been to a GHAC meeting, let me give an overview.  GHAC is a Fish Hobbyist Social Club.  The actual meeting can run from 15 min to 45 min and then  we usually have a small Raffle of items donated to the club.  After the meeting everyone will kick back and relax while socializing with fellow club members.  People usually use this event to meet with others that live far away to buy, sell or trade items between themselves.

Looking for those willing to help with snacks and refreshments.

I will bring a 12 pack of Cherry Coke as it was the most popular item out my cooler the last time.. Coke Classic was not touched by midnight when I went home.
