No the water won't splash out not unless you get wild or put a giant boulder. Putting a weaker return won't lower the water level as long as their is a pump putting water in it it will always stay at the level of the overflow.

tank cleared up this morning so i figured i would post a pic... i ordered the mounting brackets for the light and it will be here on friday. the tanks up and running and starting to look good. now i just need to get the salt in it right.

it has salt in it just not alot... and its not live rock it is artificial rock. picked it because it doesnt come with any harmful worms or bad shrimp. little bit more expensive but worth not having the trouble down the roadComment

Yeah I think you need to drill the side of the return and put the return nozzles there they take away from the view with those big things on the side. And I'm telling you move the rocks from the sides so that you can fit a glass cleaner between it.
The rocks are usually made with a concrete mix. The idea is nice no pests and what not but in the end you will get pests unless you do a rigorous dipping corals will come in with something but some of the "pests" are fine IMO. Like bristleworms until they get enormous like mine but otherwise they eat uneaten food and etc.Comment
