I wouldn't think so but I don't know much about salt water except not to drink it.

Is it pointless to have to skimmer on now. Since there is no live stock and it's brand new water.

You don't need to have lights on at all.
I would actually recommend not turning them on to avoid an algae out break.

I saw it once they where doing a phone booth or something. you could build a tank like the one on Tanked a few weeks ago, that they built for the casino. it was 35 x 5 x 2.5 FEET, or 3300 gallons. it would make a great shark AND ray AND cuda tank!
