    You don't need to have lights on at all.

    I would actually recommend not turning them on to avoid an algae out break.

    you could build a tank like the one on Tanked a few weeks ago, that they built for the casino. it was 35 x 5 x 2.5 FEET, or 3300 gallons. it would make a great shark AND ray AND cuda tank!
