Hey the Black Panthers are one of the Stongest supporters for the right to bear Arms. if i remmember the quote correctly " A nation that is no longer able to arm itself is a People waiting to be enslaved by the Government" Or something about the tyranny of government. Powerful statement. of course im sure the quote is 100 percent right but you get the idea.

I think some of the dialogue going on here is deplorable. Every African American that I know voted for Obama did so for many reasons other than his race. They agreed with his message of hope, hard work and getting rid of the oppressive atmosphere of hatred and fear that has hung over this nation too long.
If his race influenced people to come out and vote - that doesn't bother me. I would have a hard time engaging in the political process too if all I ever saw was one type of candidate. Election after election, the question has been "which rich old white protestant should I vote for"
What I find sad, is that him being African American is such a big deal - that our nation should be around as long as it has, preaching democracy, preaching rule of the people, by the people, yet minorities and women have such a small role to play (though it is expanding) and nations long known for oppression and bigotry now have better civil rights than our own nation? Why is it a "historical moment" for us to aknowledge that you don't have to be white, rich and protestant to have a good idea, or be a strong leader.
Sure the media is going to find examples to say that it was about race. However this same media showed that McCain couldn't even hold on to the vote in traditionally republican communities.
I think it was about the qualifications. In 2000 I supported McCain. I believed in what he stood for. I thought he was the right man for the job. This time around, I felt that what he was bringing to the table was more of what got us into such horrible shape to begin with. Too long has the executive branch - supposedly led by Republicans - who stand for more power in state hands, and a weak executive branch - too long have they denied their traditional platform accruing power for the executive branch at a level we have not seen since Reconstruction - and they have left this nation in a sorry state.
So let us look forward and see what they will bring about. I am looking forward to hope instead of fear and war mongering. The Republicans go on about Democratic spending - Yet Bush has spent more than any Democrat in living memory.

That's using your definition of the word suffer. In the context that I meant it, it means essentially "put up with".
So that we can put away all the racial rhetoric, why don't you tell everyone who you were talking about bringing? If you've nothing to hide it shouldn't be a problem.
Kris...I respect your opinion. You don't like the tone and the fighting and all and I can understand. But I am very tired of having all the liberal/racist propaganda shoved down my throat only to have myself and those who think as I do themselves accused of racism. I'm tired of saying nothing when I see racism just because it's being perpetrated by blacks rather than whites and that somehow seems to make it ok. Whether or not you think I'm harsh, or mean, or racist, or just plain wrong, I do not intend to lie down and let this country get away from its ideals without a fight. I hope Obama becomes the best President he can be. But I know in my heart that the liberal/socialist policies of the left are not the way to go, that they will destroy this country that our predecessors fought and died for. I, for one, intend to do as much as I can to see that the America we know and love does not go away. I will fight with all that I am to see that we remain the shining city on the hill. I intend to make sure that America is a better place tomorrow than it is today. That is the legacy that was given to us and it is a legacy that I will fight to pass on to my child as well.
