Rob- we're just going to have to agree to disagree. Maybe my brain doesn't work well with your wording and examples. To me, what you're saying is contradictory and to you; what I'm saying is contradictory.

I don't think that just anyone can get rich. I don't think that life is fair. I think there are opportunities and it's your choice to capitalize on them or not. Some people are truly talented and make millions a year. Some people get lucky, have no talent at all and still make millions a year. Either way, if you don't make that money....TOUGH COOKIES. To me, it's all jealousy.
People are just so fixated on money. In America, money equates to happiness.

America is the land of opportunities (chances to make money), it's not the land of handouts and free money.
Seeing an opportunity and capitalizing on an opportunity are different things. That doesn't mean that we can offer everyone a job that pays $200,000.00 a year. It's impossible. I'm not saying it's not ideal, I'm saying it's not possible.

And if Obama wants to raise taxes and "redistribute" money, he'll find a way.
Under Obama's plan, my company will get a 50% credit for healthcare but my taxes will go up 36%-39%...he wants to give bus drivers, teachers, and auto workers larger tax cuts.
Obama's exact quote was "It’s not that I want to punish your success – I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you – that they’ve got a chance at success too.”

My success is not dependent on anyone elses. Nor should their success be dependent upon mine. I worked for what I have and now I get taxed for being successful at what I do? I would have a greater cleared profit at the end of the year if I WORKED LESS and laid people off. So, maybe I'll just work until I clear $249,000.99...
He says he's not punishing success...fine, he's not punishing success; he's taxing it to death.

When I found out the number, I smacked a McCain-Palin sticker on my car.  
Also, the big money people like Shell and Walmart; they get out of their taxes with loopholes and exclusions. Go figure.

I can either cut benefits or fire people.
This won't hurt the top 5%. The top 5% can sit on their money...small/medium business owners can't.

I know that it says that Delock, but it doesn't equate to that.
God only knows what he considers a "small business". A guy selling hotdogs out of a cooler could be a "small business".
He says all of these wonderful notions but saying that he's going to tax me 36-39% more is a NUMBER. An actual NUMBER. Then he says that he wants to cut corporate taxes...I'm not that big! But then again, he says that I'll get "a break" somewhere in the middle of all that after everyone else get's their break. WHAT NUMBER is that break?

I have two options....cut benefits or fire people and that's the bottom line.
The people who ARE at the top 5% will just raise the prices of what they're selling and still sit on their money.
I don't care what anyone writes, McCain or Obama...I care about numbers. And it's going to put me in between a rock
and a hard place if Obama wins.

Why dont everyone dont do the same thing as what my mom has to deal with each tax season (working for H&R Block)
She is told by some of her customers the reason they quit their jobs and dont make anymore money (this year) is because if they make more than $xxx /yr and with the number of children they have they are not going to get the maximum "free" money from the government.  They stop working because EVEN if they can make more money working than getting their part of "free" money they will rather quit and sit at home and not work and get "free" money from the government than going out to work.

Each year at the start of the year they can all goto the "tax man's" seminar that will tell them exactly what to do that year when it comes to making money..."free money that is"

I'm fixated on the fact that I refuse to lose a company that my dad worked his whole life for.
I'm also fixated on the fact that out of all the benefits to cut, it's going to have to be funding for private school.
Every employee's child has an opportunity to attend a private school zoned in their school district as long as they maintain a certain amount of "academic responsibility" and "promote appropriate conduct".
I don't pay myself $250,000.00....

Also, $250,000.00 in the broad spectrum of things, is not an extreme amount of money.
Your local builder probably makes the same. I'm not a millionaire.
In the past month, I've done $100,000.000+ in work with the City of Galveston AT THE COST OF MATERIALS.
And whose paycheck gets cut?
I can't pay my architects less. I can't pay my builders less. I can't ask Home Depot or a lumberyard to sell me product for less.
Don't you dare tell me that I'm fixated on money.
If you must call me "fixated", tell me that I'm fixated on the fact that I will have cut the educational fund. Because, "heck " yes I'm worried and I'm concerned. And I'm mad that I can't uphold an educational program that my dad implemented because to do so, someone must lose their job. I'm not cutting anything for "shiggles", it's not fun to tell a parent that their benefits are going to drop and their healthcare is going to be atrocious.


Are you saying its ok for those with success to be fixated on money and others, with less money or success, need to find "happiness" somewhere else?  
I'm telling those with success to be responsible. I'm telling them to make the right choices for their company as a whole and to insure that their employee's best interests are in mind when making all decisions. And I'm telling those with less money that if you want more money, go get another job.

I don't take home $250,000.00
I still have to put money back into the business, buy cars, I have 4 homes up in the air....insurance claims all over the place. It's not something I can just stick in my pocket. I have to invest back into the business.
I usually take home between $109-119. Which isn't even the most on fishbox. A married couple making $55,000ish each makes the same.

I don't ONLY get individually taxed, the company gets taxed...I own the company.

I'm not telling anyone these facts for fun, I'm telling you what a CPA who works for H&R block told me.
I handed over my books and he told me exactly what I wrote you.
I double checked it with my financial adviser at Meryl Lynch and he said the same. There are stipulations and fine print in everything.
This isn't just a free ticket for "small businesses", everything has strings attached.
