    Re: The Presidential Debate

We CHL owners go through a very thorough background check by the Department of Public Safety.

But you are entitled to your opinion too and I respect that. But I do disagree with you. :)

marauder_77868 has a gun? Ok, you are starting to scare me. 8O

I never said that...nor would I. That's the point. And those carrying a gun legally aren't the serious threat to a person's family...it's the ones who are carrying illegally that are the problem. The legal carriers actually make you and your family safer.

My perception of the threat to family and property is my right. This has been upheld numerous times in the courts. To protect personal interests you may try to influence me but ultimately no one has the right to tell me what is or is not a threat to me, my family or my property.

Let me add...Determining what is right or wrong for another individual or individuals (the other guy) is a vain attempt to simplify complexities of the argument. A bad position to take in any intelligent debate.

                Re: The Presidential Debate

That's absolutely correct and that is your right. But consider that the courts have given others the opportunity to go through a screening process in order to obtain a CHL and have so determined that this is not a threat to you in the court's opinion. You have a right to feel that anything you want is a threat to you and your family. You have the right to decide, for example, that pork and beans are the deadliest threat to you and your family...but that does not mean that all the stores must remove pork and beans from the shelf. This is because you can decide whether or not to eat pork and beans. You can similarly decide to avoid people with guns if you are able. If you feel that those lawful carriers are a threat to you, that is your right. I just absolutely disagree. Further, I would say that those lawful carriers tend to deter crime. If the criminals were the only ones with guns beside the police....and they would be if gun ownership were outlawed...then we would all be less safe. Like I said....you have the right to consider anything you want as a threat. But if the courts, and the Constitution for that matter, considered it a threat we wouldn't even need to discuss this issue.

I simply chose not to respond because I could feel how passionate he was. I disagree with him. But I accept and respect his opinion. As do you too. :)

No, I still see marauder_77868 as my friend, no matter how politically insensitive and grating he has been to me lately. All this mental abuse I have to put up with. Almost forgetting who I am and losing my sense of purpose. He almost brainwashed me. But I forgive him. He's my friend.
