Have been postponing the foundation pour for a couple of weeks due to extremely hot weather. Finally got some really good weather yesterday so went ahead with the pour..
In regards to stocking-when I was in highschool, a friend's dad had a house built in a newer neighborhood with inter-connected lakes/ponds that ran through it. He was in the first house built on the water, very well off, and although he was told no, he paid a fish farm extra, and they stocked it at 2am so nobody was around but us! Those lakes/ponds are now loaded with bass, catfish, hybrid bluegill and some crappie. So if you REALLY want to stock it, there is a way. Not sure where you are located, but there are several nice fish farms in the Brazoria County area, or atleast there used to be.
The neighborhood is stocking it with Tilapia, Bass and Catfish. The lake behind our house is connected to the other two lakes in the neighborhood. The good thing is that our lake only has two lots on it, so its smaller and is private just for my house and the lot next door.
I have made the request to put in mesh coverings over the drains that connect our lake to the other two lakes, and just noticed they installed that a couple of days ago. This is good since I plan to stock it with Koi and the mesh will prevent them from swimming over tot he other two lakes and just keep them in our lake. The plan is to build a gazebo that overhangs out into the lake so we can see and feed the Koi.
I had plan on stocking it with some African Cichlids as well, but I think the Bass will make an easy meal out of the cichlids..

This is going to be bad to the bone. I hope you have a tour after the pond is done.
We have gone on the Houston koi pond tour several times and this may be one of the mack dadies of all koi ponds.
Thanks Daniel. It will still be a long ways before its complete. I probably won't stock the pond with Koi until the lot nextdoor is sold and built out, since I don't want to deal with the possibility of construction debris impacting the Koi. So it will be a while before its all said and done..
Well, the installed the drains for the atrium to run the water out when it rains. They set the drains in the ground then pours the concrete for the atrium. Well, I checked and they misplaced one of the drains. It's off by 4 ft! Now they have to knock out all the whole atrium, fix the drain and re pour the concrete.
