I have caught Lane, Red, Vermillion, and squirrelfish (not a snapper, but look close). The amount of real weirdoes grow everytime we fish out here, from Oceanic puffer to Rehmoras to moray eels to rainbow runners to wahoo. You never know what you'll pull up next...

I have caught both out here. The largest Goliath was probably 70-80# and the mangroves are 5-10#. Easiest way to spot Mangroves are the darker purple looking snapper at the surface. Never catch them deeper then 20 foot. Once you catch one the others get crazy spooked and you'll not catch another until the next day.

We are in about 200 foot of water here, the grouper are nice and huge. They remind me of dragging a tire full of rocks up from the bottom though. Glad I opted for the larger Penn reel, no finesse required just horse them up from the bottom....

Oh I see now. I thought u were saying the water was 100 ft deep. Nah I'll pass on catching too many fish lol.

They are on the surface, but our deck is another 100 foot off the water at least... Hauling 2-3 50-75# fish that are squirming the entire time with a rope gaff is too much work... About the largest thing I landed was a 12' shortfin mako in about 250' of water. We were real lazy and used the platform crane, lol

Need to make you a net type basket like we had on the piers when I was a kid. Kind of guide them into the basket and haul them up.Originally posted by mnemenoi View PostEhh, believe it or not it gets old after a few years. It also kills the ability to fish anywhere else. We have 3 4-6' Cobia swimming at the surface under us right now. Just dreading hauling them up 100 foot to our deck...
Bring home a mess of dorado and let's eat.

I fish right outside the door to the quarters building here. Great fishing, but it can be tricky to drive the 120 miles offshore, lol. 200 foot of water and you can catch whatever you want!
