Fishing Spots

Where do ya'll go saltwater fishing at? I don't go often but I need some new spots besides rollover pass and some rock pier after the ferry in Galveston. I've been told in laporte, but I don't know where at exactly. I've been craving to go and this saturday i'm hoping weather stays good.

I usually go to the 61st street pier and 91st street pier (galveston fishing pier)

Places I've been:

Seawolf Park - usually don't go on the pier but try fishing with lights at night on the sides. I've hit the limit on trout there before.

Also there's jetties and piers along seawall. 61st street has a pier. There's a jetty on the east end (past east beach) that people catch trout on.

If you don't want to drive that far, there's a pier at Pine Gully Park in Seabrook. I went there last year and saw a couple red drums.

Texas City also reopened back up 2 years ago.

If you like wadefishing, I can show you the ropes. About 80% of my trips produce limits of trout. All I use are artificial lures. My favorite time of year to fish is approaching. Small topwater baits like the Super Spook Jr will produce big trout. The shrimp and shad have hatched and are growing day by day but they are still small, therefore the small baits will produce the best trout in the bays. Close to April and May, the shrimp will be huge and the bait selection should be changed accordingly.

Right now if you like to fish with dead bait, cracked crab and shad on the bottom near Pelican Island, Seawolf Park, or Texas City in the channel will produce some humongous black drum. Fishing with dead shrimp on the bottom will get you some solid gulf trout (15-20"). You can fill a cooler with over 100 of them on any given day. The trick is to buy about a pound of dead shrimp and catch a few gulf trout. Cull the small ones by cutting them into fillets and making cut bait. The cut bait produces bigger fish and also lasts a lot longer than shrimp. You can catch 5-10 fish on one piece of cutbait. Have anymore questions, hit me up through PM. look up el jarden park....you can walk right into the water and fish to the right about a 100 yards to the right there is a small reef...

I call that spot "Rock Island". I wouldn't suggest fishing there unless you have a partner. The ships come through the channel and suck the water out and it comes rushing back in really strong. Water gets deep right around the rocks and there's plenty of rocks that would cause you to trip and fall. Great fall-spring spot, but you have to fish it when winds are light. Preferably on light northerly winds/

Water gets deep right around the rocks and there's plenty of rocks that would cause you to trip and fall. Great fall-spring spot, but you have to fish it when winds are light. Preferably on light northerly winds/

I always make a catch at HK4. Come home happy every time. All types of fish there

Mickey do you walk out on the rocks and onto the broken cement slab? That's the dangerous part. Lol. It's ok to fish it alone if you're familiar with the area but when wading an unfamiliar area it's somewhat risky. Especially that place. A few times my buddy was getting dragged by the current and I had to grab him lol.

Never done wading and don't have a suit for it. Keep me out the water lol. I still consider myself a beginner. I've always been meaning to try texas city and sea wolf park. I always see sea wolf park crowded though.

You could park under the 146 bridge and walk the old railroad track that runs parallel to the bridge. Plenty of reds, black drum, and hangups!!!!! Long walk but that channel is swarming with fish. Go to protides.com and look at the tides for Clear Lake, Texas. Fish when the water is moving. I prefer outgoing, but incoming is good too.

The bridge by the boardwalk?

Yes. The big Kemah bridge that separates Webster from Kemah. You can park under that bridge and walk west towards that Marina and walk all the way down that path. It used to be a railroad track. Good fishing at the end of it.

Park on the Seabrook side or the Kemah side? Walking west will take you into the boat marina right?
