Dude.....grow up . There's a time and place for everything . Why do you feel that this thread needs to be made light of? Apparently , by your post you didnt feel like typing a proper or meaningful response.......so why type anything at all?

Because if a forum full of "adults" has to sit back and talk about how you should interact with one another in a civilized and respectful manner there is more wrong than can be fixed by a few well thought out words on a screen. I saw the way people acted in the other thread and it was sad. I tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and was almost strung right up with the poor fool. It blows my mind that out of all the ridiculousness I have seen go on in this forum you chose to pick out my post as the one to come down on. Seriously dude? I dont call people names. I dont start fights with people. I make jokes about stupid stuff and try to have fun. The fact that a thread was allowed to turn into a damn witch hunt and go on for days makes me question whether I am the one here that really needs to grow up.

First off, I don't have an issue with you at all . As a matter of fact , I don't have an issue with anyone on the Box . I pointed out your post merely because ....out of 5 pages and 45+ post.....yours was the only one that was silly and didn't make a bit of sense . I asked you to grow up because what you posted read like something a kid would write ." Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah.....wha wha wha wha wha..... " . Does that not sound "childish" / "silly" to you ? Especially since the topic at hand was more of a serious nature . My question was .....If you don't have anything to say..or you are too lazy to type it out , then.....why say anything at all ? As a matter of fact , you had more to say in your reply directed to me ......than you did about the actual topic of this thread .

This thread was started by one guy who didnt act like a child and was replied to by almost everyone who made it absolutely clear that they do act like children. Then when they respond on here they are telling tales of how respectful they act and how its everyone else who is mean and rude and just terrible. The hypocrisy being spewed forth from most of the people is sickening. I was making a joke because most of the people on here are friggin hilarious, they just dont know it. The funniest part is the ones who are most guilty of this crap are the ones who will be pointing fingers and saying that I am talking about someone else. So to clarify, no I'm not to lazy to make a blatant and meaningful comment. I just feel like trying make people see how foolish they look and sound is just about as useful as farting with a walkman on.

I have fish because its fun. I get on this forum because its fun. When this ever becomes "serious" to me I am quitting. Everything else in my life is the time for me to be serious. THIS IS A HOBBY!

I used to, and still do to a way smaller degree collect WW2 Army Air Force flight gear. I have been collecting for around 7 years and have come across a bunch of people that I now call my friends. On the other hand, I have also met people that made me want to quit what I started out loving to do. That is when it hit me that I needed a break since I had let these people bother me that much. The same is true with fish. When if ever there is a time that people get to me enough to where I want to quit, I will probably take a break. I have had to ask myself before though that whenever I feel this way am I still collecting for me or to impress others. Whenever it gets to the point of doing something merely for the fact to impress others, it is no longer a hobby but an outlet for acceptance. I guess the saying ring true, there is always a few bad apples in the bunch. This has been true in everything I have done and will be for the rest of my life I am sure. But oh well, I do this hobby for myself.

I think we all need to keep in mind that there are a bunch of people who use HFB. A bunch of very different personalities with very different views. What one person sees as childish, another person will think is funny. Humor is definitely subjective.

Armthehomeless asked in the OP how one should act on a forum. It was a question. I don't think he was trying to lead people to specific answers. Or maybe he was and I just didn't get it.

I know there are people here who get on each other's nerves. I know because I hear from them. In fact, sometimes I hear from 2 people about a 3rd person, and the craziest thing is that usually those 2 people have completely differing opinions about what that 3rd person did wrong.

What it boils down to is...we have some more serious-minded members, and some goofy members. Are they going to clash? Sure they are.

There is room for everyone here, and we can't let one personality type dictate things anymore than another. If rules are broken, then it's handled with an infraction or a warning, but mostly I'd prefer if everyone could work things out without it becoming a huge fight or insults being thrown around. You guys are (mostly) adults. Adults can decide for themselves how to behave, and deal with any consequences resulting from the behavior. If that means that they isolate themselves from potential relationships here on HFB, then that's what each individual has to decide.

I know there are members who really don't like each other. Those members could choose not to cross paths. It's really easy to do that on a forum. You just don't click on the threads you know are by the people you don't like...OR you just don't type a reply and click Submit. It's like, the easiest place to avoid conflict. There's no possibility of awkwardly having to share space, or accidentally making eye contact.

Having said all that, I don't want it to be taken as my saying that anything goes on HFB. Hijacking a thread is pretty rude. It's the same as butting into a conversation and turning the focus on yourself and away from the original topic. There are times when the topic is expanded on, and this is not the same thing as hijacking. Just be aware of who's thread it is, and the general feel of the dialog. If it appears to be a focused discussion where a lot of valuable ideas are being thrown around, know that a jab/joke/offtopic comment is probably not going to be welcomed.

We want HFB to feel welcoming to new members (and old members for that matter). They should feel like they can ask a question, and get an answer (or many answers). That's the #1 point of HFB. The socializing is secondary to that, but is as important. Many real life friendships have grown from HFB, and we don't want to lose that by restricting conversations. It's a give and take, by everyone.

                            Hi Gang!

I've been gone for a long while from HFB so I've missed all the apparent drama . That's good. I'm glad there's still a core group of folks posting I know and that there are new folks coming in. A lot has happened to me since I left including the deaths of my mother, my brother and a very dear friend this past Nov., Jan., and Feb., respectively. I've also in the process of moving unexpectedly and starting a new job. Both good things.

As you can imagine, my drama allowance is rather low and I hope it stays that way. I've gotten better at limiting my involvement and production of drama but understand everyone is different. I've also gotten pretty good at live and let live. I'm a member on several forums and usually people at my favorites self censor which limits the moderation required by the "officials" Hope the HFB is that way still.
