  • CL question

    Hey hey -

So I sold one of my dosing pumps on craigslist to a guy at med center. He asked me to ship, I did no problem.

Hes asking to send it back and me to refund since it wasn't what he expected. Even though it was all advertised and a link to the BRS.com website. Fine, no problem but he just seemed sketchy to begin with. Sent me money with a paypal acct with someone elses name on it but his name/address under the info.

Even if he payed all shipping costs, would you guys take it back? Craigslist being pretty sketchy to begin with. Not sure if he swapped my pump out with another old/broken one or something

Not a big deal, just curious about if you've guys have came across anything refund wise through craigslist

    Thanks

I would wait for the return.

Then send money back, but with paypal if sent for goods he could easily dispute the charge.

Oh yeah definitely. I'm not refunding anything until something is in my hand. I don't do that whole trusting thing. That's for other people to mingle with

So I decided it's not worth the hassle for me to pick up the resent package from post office and what not and told him "all sales final, item is working and as advertised." He fired back with a threat of putting in a paypal refund claim. How successful are these?

well you said your ad had a link to the BRS website right? all the buyer had to do was click it and READ how its supposed to work how much it doses. maybe go back to your CL ad and put "ALL SALES FINAL" and you can link that to paypal when he tries to claim it...

It'll probably put a hold on your paypal and maybe whatever account associated with it.

Then they'll investigate and most likely the buyer wins.

Make sure you have any proof of shipping and delivery confirmation on hand.

                CL question

Did he send the money as goods or money for a friend. Basically if the CC fee was not paid then Paypal won't do anything. Part if the cc fee is an insurance for the ability to dispute.

Not sure, I'm not seeing it anywhere. But there was the ~3% paypal charge. People are funny though, in a text "If you want to wait for later, I can drive and we can settle this face to face" We're going through the claim now

Since he asked to ship it to another address and name other than the Paypal account, you are out of luck. All he has to say is that you didn't ship and you have no proof that you shipped it to him, since he asked to ship to info other than his PP account. Thats why its important to always ship to verified addresses only.

The address was the same as the one linked to account, but nevertheless, just called paypal to cancel the dispute. Going to refund it, it's not worth the hassle.

He'll probably end up keeping the item too, so I lost both ways. But oh well, guess threats do work over the internet. Worked on me. Too many unstable people to keep this up definitely since he has my home address and phone number

Nah, just not worth it anymore. It's already been reversed. Now I know, not to use paypal with people I don't know through an "anonymous" based website like craigslist. First time using it outside of ebay and aquabid, and I get an issue. Go figure
