Can't really tell from the pic, but they could be red belly pacu and he's using the name to get more interest. Either way, you're right, he's asking for a whole load of trouble.
Hmm the ones I had were just gray with the red belly but I agree wrong person see that and its all trouble for them
Most of them are grey with the red belly. There are some that have spots. I saw a few of them mixed with the regular grey/red belly ones at Xtreme a while back
If you have a big enough tank and want something meaner than one of those silly little piranhas, go up to Day Lake by Dayton and catch a Bowfin, or Grinnell as I know it. Piranha, HA! They arnt even aggressive.
(not mine) but I had no idea they were illegal. Up in Michigan, fish stores carried them like nothing. Not sure if they were red bellied or not though, but definitely pirahnas. Neighbor had a 55g with them
