If it's the EGR valve solenoid, I'd get one from a junkyard. U-pick U-pull on Shaver at West Ave has some good prices.

I'm talking about the solenoid that controls the EGR valve. I didn't see that you replaced it.

I personally would not trust any wear item from a junkyard.

you get doors, windows, bumpers, etc from junkyards, wear items, if you wanna save a buck go get aftermarket which comes with warranty.

Personally, you should get the truck properly diagnosed instead of replacing parts blind. you might have to spend the money on diagnostics but most of the time you'll save by not having to build a new truck.

Yes true but I can't afford it. I looked in the gas tank and the fuel pump looks brand new. No rusted color. Pure white. The only other thing I can do is clean the fuel injectors.

Do any of you think a tranny filter can cause this?

If it were me i would have it diagnosed then fix it myself the money you already spent would have paid for that saves a lot of headaches trying to track it down

Well I went to my mechanic and he said its the distibuter so I changed it and I beleive I shorted it out because the first time I put it in, I didn't have it all the way TDC so needless to say it still shuts off but no where near as bad and it made it super quiet and it idles really good.

So is it possible to short the distributer out

You want the number to my mechanic? He retired from Metro, fixing the buses. Whenever my Saturn did that, it was always the alternator.

He retired years ago. Name is Williard Limontas. He's from the islands. Good mechanic but he's about 60 now, in good shape, but he just does repairs from home now.

My uncle is also a AAA certified mechanic. Dude worked for Ford for a few years and got the big head and opened his own shop without many customers and then started working for airlines, fixing on aircrafts. Not sure where he is these days.

If the timing is off even by a hair, will it cause the truck to turn off?

Okay here are the codes I got today on doing the obd self test.

                              (R) = Engine Running test (M) = Memory code (O)=Key On Engine Off test

                              121
                              (O,R,M)
Throttle Position (TP) sensor out of range - TPS

                              334
                              (O,R,M)
EVP sensor is/was high - EVR

                              452
                              (M)
                              Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) problem

                              542
                              (O,M)
Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on - - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

                              628
                              (M)
Excessive converter clutch slippage - Transmissions

                              634
                              (O,M)
Park/Neutral Position (PNP) or Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) circuit fault Electronic shift transmission - Manual Lever Position (MLP) sensor out of range in Park-Transmissions

Does anyone know what these mean?

Means you needs to get the thing properly diagnose to see what is the culprit setting off those codes.
