Only place I buy ammo is Ammo To Go out of Independence, TX. They are close enough for a day trip to pickup on site, if you call after you order. Or you can have them ship it....not a terrible cost. http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index....e-ammo-223-556
WHIDPA runs a monthly 3-Gun competition out 290 going towards Hempstead. They also hold various other shooting events throughout the month as well. They are open to the public(for competition only, private range during the week) and the guys there are always welcoming of newbies into the sport. We got de Hooch baby!

Nice "Bush" Andrew. Nothing wrong with wolf ammo if your only target shooting. My friend and I personally reload all of our ammo, 2 progressive Hornadays. And a few other single loads for heavy and mil spec especially the "rock chucker". In honestly Gander has 1000 AE for 250 beans. Lake city cost a bit more, green tip armor piercing 600 beans for a 1000.
check out sportsmanguide.com and become a member. spend the money IMHO.
I have my lovely kimber 1911 custom tact II that has had the trigger smithed and blued to a redish maroon top slide. She is my lover. Wifey does not like her at all. We had a contender pistol and modified to a 16" thopmson bull barrel with an extension on the hammer single shot rifle. Those 2 guns are the only ones I enjoy shooting that we have currently. I own 1 gun but my friend (brother really) has a few. We built his AR too.
Hope the little info is good enough Andrew.

I have a question - I've been trying to search google for a few hours now, but haven't found any specific answers. Probably a question that is asked way too much.
Bushmasters claim to be able to shoot .223 and 5.56. I know .223 can shoot in 5.56 chambers, but not 5.56 in .223 chambers... got that part. 5.56 NATO is listed all over my rifle lower and barrel (B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9) - Is it better to put 5.56 rounds through it over .223 since it's a more perfect fit? Will it be more accurate than .223 because of the fit? Will putting .223s through it eventually cause damage to the barrel since the bullets could "rattle" inside barrel?
Also - just got back from Alabama to visit a buddy. We put 700 rounds through the thing in a matter of a couple hours and it worked like a champ. By the end, it was sighted into 500yards which was fun... didn't have good groupings at that distance, but hell, I'm happy to hit the target.
p.s. gravity's a *****
thanks guys

Played around with different ammo today at 100y. All lower end brass rounds.
AE .223 55grain (my normal round)

AE 5.56 62 grain green tip

Federal xm193f 5.56 55grain

Both of the AEs were very similar. The 62 grain is obviously slightly faster of a round. The Federal though, was dropping an extra 1.5" on average. Pretty good tests in my opinion. I'd be curious to test some 67grain rounds - apparently that's the max reccomended strength for a 9" twist?
