    tnguyen,
Sorry man wasn't trying to dig up painfull memories that was just my best attempt to explain to Darbex some of hatred that Dallas faces from Houston fans.

    Darbex
    - The reason Jerry has not been able to purchase a title of late is that since the early 90's he mortgaged the future for the the present. He managed to manipulate the system by back loading contracts to squeze in under the salary cap. Eventualy all that deffered money caught up to him. More importantly it hinders the teams ability to pay players today beacuse they are paying salaries to players from years back. While I am willing to concede that perhaps Jones learned his lesson about players that are distractions the team still has the permissive coach. Honestly I think Jerry prefers coachs who he can dominate. He has had issues with every coach who either seized or tried to sieze control. That is one of his biggest issues is not letting his people do what they have been hired to do. As well Romo STILL has to prove to the world and himself that he can get over the playoff hump. Anyways I am willing to discuss football with people rationaly if that is how they approach me. So please don't take what I have said as trash talking. You asked why people hate Dallas, that how I see the team and the isssues they face.

The break down with last year was that the egos took over the team. Jones made a calculated risk to bring in talent with disregard to off field issues they may have and it back fired. Now he and his son knows that wont work. If Jones was buying rings where have they been the last 13 years? He has still been trying to buy his team but you have to give him credit he loves his team and will do anything to try to put a competitive product out there. The only thing I hate about him is I wish he would hire a GM and let them handle that side of the ball and he work on making more money than another team. Remember Jones haters it was Jerry and a few others that help make Football the biggest sport in America and it was Jerry that help break the stale mate with cable companies to force them to broadcast NFL network so we can watch the Thursday night games.

Thanks Gene for bringing back the 1-15 year. I remember it well being a die hard Cowboys fan. The only game I didn't watch they played a perfect game against the Redskins with no penalty! Even though that year suck, they beat the Redskins!

The beauty of seeing your team go from the worst ever to witnessing 3 Superbowl afterward is unbelievable.

As much as we all hate Jerry Jones, yes at the time I hated him too. Sometime I still do. The dude fired Tom Landry and traded Hershel Walker! Thinking back now, he did what he have to do. The Boys need change and he did that!

As for this team, I still think they have a shot. It's up to this young receiver core to step up and play. Going to be an exciting year. Like Darbex say. Rooting for the boys, you know they will always have a better "chance" at getting to the big dance. Go Cowboys!

I can't speak for all Houston fans but for myself personally the hatred was formed in college. 60% of the student body of SFA was from Houston or Dallas. The differences between the two were so blatant that they were at times insurmountable. The biggest issue was that my freshman year was 1993. Just a few years earlier Dallas was 1-15 and you could not find a soul who would admit to being a Cowboys fan. Presto change-o a Super Bowl or two and the world is full of rabid Cowboys fans. I have always disliked bandwagon fans and that is the majority of what I have encountered. That coupled with Jerry Jones arrogance and ability to essentially purchase titles are the reasons why I loathe the Cowboys. That said I can appreciate talent even if it is not on Houston's roster. I believe Dallas has a good deal of talented players but Tony Romo has not shown that he can cope with the pressures of leading a team into the playoffs. I am convinced that Dallas will always be "a close but no cigar" team as long as Romo is at the helm. This is only compounded by Wade Phillips permissive "players coach" attitude. TO may have been the root of the teams internal struggles but Wade allowed it to degenerate to that state and he has not changed.

Yes the Boys havent one a playoff game since then. So what we field a solid team with a chance at winning every game. The boys stumpled last year I acknowledge that. But we have 5 rings and will have the 6th this year with the drama out of the building and getting back to football. Everyone can talk mess about Jones but he knows how to get hype and money. His team is always the team everyone follows even in down times. His franchise is worth the most or second most behind the Skins every year. Jones just built the most expensive stadium in the world and most sports people view it as the greatest stadium built to date. So hate all you want Houston fans but the boys will keep kicking @$$ up 45.
    Thanks Darbex

finally got someone to help out with the haters

like you said, i dont hate the local teams, i just dont root for them

    week 1 to the boys'

I think at this point it is safe to say we all have allegiances that were not going to talk each other out of. Houston and Dallas are oil and water and their fans tend to interact about as well. That said I will leave it alone...for now.

But I do have to share a story about a trip a buddy and I made to the Ballpark in Arlington (beautiful venue, needs a roof and ac, but very nice). We had just parked outside the ballpark and were digging in the back of the SUV. As proud Astros fans we were both wearing Astros jerseys. A car full of Rangers fans pulls up and the driver yells "Hey Astros fans, go back to Texas". We just looked at each other in stunned silence and then turned to look at the driver who by now had realized what he said. He just kind of shook his head and drove off while his buddies in the car stared at him. You can't make this stuff up, even though the Astros were trounced (18-6 I think- Hamilton had 2 or 3 Hr's) that incident alone was worth the trip.

Hey semper take it easy on the grammar, these posts are typed in a hurry and seldomly do people take the time to edit for spelling and punctuation. I am sure if we all reread our own posts we would be dissapointed in ourselves. Yes I am including myself

Thank God I don't have to adhere to man rule #83 I lived in S.America, Puerto Rico and Europe and would have to be a die hard soccer fanatic if it applied.

Man rule #83 doesn't apply to me since I grew up in a town that doesn't have a sport team.
