Just so you all know the death rate for the "normal" flu is around 50-65 K annually in the US. So far we have had 1 death from this

What ever happened to boosting your immune system by exposing yourself to different viruses or illnesses? I would think that exposing yourself to the first round of this new strain while the virus is weak would make your immune (or lessen the symptoms) to the stronger version later this year or the next year. Having said that, there are only a few deaths so far from this flu strain and we do not all of the details of the flu deaths (ie what was the individuals health at the time of exposure; did the individual seek medical attention within an appropriate time frame; what treatments if any where taken to relieve the symptoms). The common flu as stated earlier causes thousands of deaths every year. There are too many unknowns to come to a reasonable conclusion in my opinion. I also believe that this strain is being hyped to much!!! It is like the government is responsible for taking care of you!

H1Z1 strain
It just got worse
mutation of the H1N1 virus into new strain: H1Z1.

Luis,
if it's been within the last 7 days then you should just watch for any symptoms to develop. fever, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, diarrhea, you know the common things that happen with the flu...if you don't develop any then by 14 days of the return your no longer a threat for anyone.

Personally, I don't care what strain of flu you have...don't cough on me. I had the flu last year and it was the worst illness I have ever had. It sucked. :icon_hang:Our Fishhouse

"stay away from people with cough,fever/chills, diarrhea, sore throat, headache, muscle aches,nausea/vomiting"
This is my poor hubby on a good day. Ha! Ha! I think if we all just be careful, we should be fine. People like my hubby who are immune-suppressed are at a really high risk, but I think the rest of us just have to use common sense.

Guys,
Don't overreact.
As someone pointed out many more people die of regular flu every year and there is no fuss.
Just use common sanitary practices as you would during regular flu season.
Also, this is Texas so don't freak out for common regular seasonal allergies as well.
Please visit the CDC or NIH sites if you need more information.
I used to work in DHHS and I assure you they are not running around in surgical masks and windexing their hands.

I might be strange but I have never "knock on wood" caught the flu. I also hate shots so I've never had a flu shot either.
