That does not work with cats. Have you changed cat litter or location of the litter box? Some cats don't like those changes. Move any furniture around, anyone move in/out? Try Feliway plug in (a kitty pheromone) or cat litter attractant both available at your local pet supply store. Or clean the litter box more often. Maybe have your vet check her for a urinary tract infection.
These are all possibilities.

My cat did this when she was in heat but only cause there was a male cat in the house at the time. It stopped a little after I rehomed the male who was a rescue anyway.

But never the shoes, or couch... She went in the tub.....its bleachable

hmm.. so i super-clean her litter area... throw away the old platic mats and replaced with new... got her a new litter box as well.. washed the old one so that way i can just swap them as needed.. hope that helps.. sigh...
