My cat, Sashimi, hasn't been using her litter box for the past week and has been pissing/pooping on my sofa... why do they do that? i thought once they are litter trained they only piss in one spot... i did cut down her food 2 weeks ago... does that have anything to do with it?

my cat will go in the corner if I forget to change his litter or if I forget to feed him. they can be tempermental sometimes.

ah, i changed her litter already... only thing i did was feed her less... she lost a few pound and seens more happy...

I am sure I can't say why your cat is now using your couch as a toilet, but they do have sprays for stopping kind of activity at Petsmart or Petco....

ya, i got a bottle of that when i first got the cat, for some reason she likes to piss in my shoes and my computer chair when i first got her... she ruined 2 good comp chairs, sigh... i've now cover my sofa with that spray and pretty much rest of the living room... hope it works...

That does not work with cats. Have you changed cat litter or location of the litter box? Some cats don't like those changes. Move any furniture around, anyone move in/out? Try Feliway plug in (a kitty pheromone) or cat litter attractant both available at your local pet supply store. Or clean the litter box more often. Maybe have your vet check her for a urinary tract infection.
These are all possibilities.
