I know some swords and anubias will grow out. Nice seeing you set that tank up the scape looks good. I am the one that helped you carry the stuff to your truck.

By the way I would agree that your best bet would be a canister. HOB will create to much noise with the waterfall and depending on how far the water falls it may disturb your sand bottom.

I just cleaned up my betta MACs tank and it had wysteria growing 6" above the water level and the leaves turned purple/brown above the water.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

I like the wood idea but I think you need larger ones to make it look good. Never tried a DIY filter

10 gal tank will fit under that stand. a square cat liter bucket fits perfect in the 10. drill some holes, bulk head. home made over flow, nylon pot scrubbers. Maxijet1200 for the return pump. A super 29.

That would be extraordinary. Can't wait to see them.

I'm not good with pictures but you can see what Brian says.

im really debating on what to do now, i tried doing the diy canister thing but i havent finished yet. alot of stuff to worry bout. will a sponge filter do the job with my tank? dan seems to like them alot and uses it in his discus tanks and almost all the other ones. should i set one up?

i got the same thing happened to my water when i put those wood in my tank. i cleaned the wood, change 80% water and put the wood back in the tank, water got dirty again, Traci told me those are kind of fungus (not harmful to fish) came out from the wood. you can treat those fungus with plecos, brushing them out and change water, or simply take the wood away. i took the wood away and my water is so clear now.
For Dan's sponge filter using, i think its just because it's convenient for him and save money on electricity (sponge filter=filter+air pump) but he changes water everyday, i do the same thing for my discus tank.but i dont think the sponge filter has a good looking .
