Looking forward to new pictures. Your shrimp are fine. I've been to busy. haven't had time to bring them to you and pickup my fish.

update- still available at HAW, 5$ each, at 3/4 inch now and getting bigger every day. don't think they are Geophagus brasiliensi, however. not sure what species but trying to find out. still have the daddy, and he's still not growing. i really think he's an adult. we did get a few more smaller ones in however, around 2", so hopefully he'll choose another mate!

i respect the combined experience that you guys have... it's just a bit hard to swallow given that i haven't seen any change or growth in this fish in almost 2 years. would it be possible that the small size of it's tank (15g) would be stunting it's growth? i feed flake, cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, and dried shrimp. tankmates are 2 others of the same species only 2" long, and a handfull of baby oscars about 1 1/2-2". regular gravel, one large lava rock (i hate it's sharp edges) and one plastic plant. i'm not allowed to change the decor.

Yes it is possible that the growth has been stunted. Theres not enough room for growth not matter what you feed. It is also possible that this fish just isnt going to grow any bigger. Fish also looks pretty beatup and stressed. I would have been willing to but it, but not without the female. It will find a good home one day.

I mean most will grow more with power feeding, but I think this poor guy just isn't gonna be able to do it without a bigger home.

Either the tank stunted him seeing how there's decor and other fish in a 15g, or he might have some sort of internal parasites? IPs also causes fish to have stunted growth. I'm thinking more likely the first than the last.

i've treated the fish with clout and maracyn. he's a long way from running out of swimming space too. his fins were ragged because at the time there were other fish in the tank, when he spawned they started fighting, so i removed the other fish (which i had to fight to do). once i took the fry away, the others went back, and without a mate, the tank stays peaceful now and his fins have healed. i'm tempted to buy him myself, take him home, and grow him out just to see... thanks guys!
