why would the media restrict flow? it's not like a canister where the only path for the water is through the media. if the dP across the media gets too high it fills up and flows over the media and out -- kinda like a bypass......

yeah, but if its kept clean the only way for water to flow is to go through the media...like a canister, therefore restricting flow...right?
