  • Project Super Shaolong (Long Shallow)

The title might be a bit cheesy but I'll use it for now. I got this super long tank today from tanknoob.
    Dimension is 12" x 12" x 60". Holds about 37g.
I'm thinking of doing a massive CRS breeding tank.....
Probably kick start this thing in the next month when I have more funding and equipment.
It's drilled on the bottom and I need help covering that hole before I place it upright.

Here is an update after nearly 2 months of sitting there. Sunny helped remove the pipe and sealed the hole, found a leak from the corners and sealed it with fresh silicone, ran 2 eheim 2211s for about 2 weeks, upgrade pumps to eheim 2213 and fluval 105.
I probably won't be running CO2 in this tank due to the length, most likely going to dose it. There's some MTS that came back to life from the black sand, bigger sized one maybe good food for the fahaka and mantis. Light upgrade later on in the future.
I'll probably add an army of nerites in the near future and a colony of surface fish or something of the sort.

Tank after plants and shrimps were moved in from my 20g long.

Tank now. Going to grab me more plants when I go to work tomorrow at Fish Gallery. Hopefully in the near future, I could upgrade my light from a 36" to at least a 48".

Love the dimensions on that tank! I bet a 48" dual T5 would be perfect for lighting it up. I say go for the vampire danios and let them really swim.... (I've heard tell they are teeny and their vampire teeth are only visible under a microscope..) It is looking nice and clean, very good job. I'd love to see some emergent Manzanita and emersed moss and maybe some crypts, they are pimp when blooming....

Since the tank is long, you can run CO2 into a reactor if you really want to do CO2.

Right now, I have my baby fahaka and a couple of cory cats living in there. It's going to be a jungle soon. I have a co2 reactor that hasn't been used for a while and I'm thinking of setting it up again. Then again, my Fahaka might be sensitive to the ph swing.

UPDATE!! I got more plants coming in. My Rotala indica are all growing nicely. I might need more substrate because I got about 2ft of open space and not enough substrate for more plants. I plan on transfering carpet and mid grown plants to the front row of the tank since it's also pretty open too. I'll most likely get some Blyxa japonica, UG, HC, and a few others.
